Is Tognoni Leaving Llanview?

It seems as if Robin Strasser (Dorian) isn't the only ONE LIFE TO LIVE star slated to leave Llanview before the show airs its last episode on January 20, 2012. The actress tweeted that on-screen niece Gina Tognoni (Kelly) will also be exiting early. In fact, the two women are slated to leave this summer, says Strasser! "Have no control over how they'll write Dorian/Kelly off by July 1," she tweeted. "I haven't had significant story in years -- hoping they'll do D. and K. good."

Strasser announced on Friday that she is set to tape her last episode on July 1. While Tognoni hasn't issued her own comment on the matter, a show insider tells Soaps In Depth that several key players will indeed be exiting the Llanview canvas in the coming weeks.

Tune In For Turner!

What do women really want? That's the question that VH-1's sexy new drama series, SINGLE LADIES, seeks to answer. If the viewers are soap fans? It's a good bet that they'll want to see more of hunky Brit Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan, ALL MY CHILDREN) in his recurring role on the show! The series, which stars Charity Shea, LisaRaye McCoy and Stacey Dash as three relationship-challenged best friends, premieres Monday, May 30.

"My character is Sebastian Caliente, a male model," Turner tells Soaps In Depth. "He attends this event at a clothing boutique, and has been looking at Val [played by Dash] the entire night and eventually bumps into her. He tells her he's been wanting to talk to her and asks for her number."

Turner adds that working with Clueless and THE GAME star Dash was a dream. "She has a fantastic sense of humor and really a pleasure to work with. And she's very easy on the eyes," he quips.

Although Turner only has a handful of SINGLE LADIES spots lined up, he says "I'd love to do more episodes and explore the character Sebastian more. I'd love for Sebastian to have the chance to make Val fall in love with him."

Tune in on Monday, June 20, and Monday, June 27, at 9 p.m. EST to see Turner in action!

ABC Changes Planned AMC Encore

ABC Daytime has decided to pull the previously scheduled encore of ALL MY CHILDREN's tornado episode on Monday, May 30, "due to sensitivity to recent actual events." In the past few weeks, tornadoes have ravaged cities in Oklahoma, Kansas and -- just this past Sunday -- Missouri.

In place of the October 2008 episode dealing with the aftermath of a tornado that rips through Pine Valley, the network's Memorial Day encore broadcast will now include the AMC episode of Cara and Tad's wedding from March 8, 2011. Tad's father, Joe, is skeptical of the union, but his mother, Ruth, is supportive. Meanwhile, Cara finds out that it was Amanda who called the INS, and Amanda refuses to attend the wedding. Across town, JR brings up the past to Marissa, but she is only focused on their future.

Exclusive: Rademacher Speaks Out!

In an exclusive interview with Soaps In Depth, Ingo Rademacher is speaking out about his release from GENERAL HOSPITAL, where he's played the role of debonair businessman Jasper Jacks for the better part of the past 15 years. "The writing has kind of been on the wall for the character since last August, when I stopped working my usual amount of shows," he shares. "Sometimes there's a lull in between storyline, but it never picked up again for me. So I kind of knew."

Even though executive producer Jill Farren Phelps had told Rademacher earlier this year that there was a chance his character would be written off of the canvas, the actor was still surprised to be let go from the soap. "I think the character is worth a lot to the show," he says with a shrug. "I don't know the exact reason for it, and I don't want to speculate because there's too many different things that you hear. A decision has been made, and I am not going to fight it. You move on. I had a long run there. They've got their reasons for doing it, and I've got to respect that."

A Secret In Salem and A Stirring From Salem are both available now at sites like and

"I want to satisfy the desires of the fans who want to see the characters that they love," Anderson says of her novels. While the book covers don't feature DAYS characters, they do carry the soap's signature hourglass. "We're hoping to appeal to an audience beyond the DAYS fans," she explains.

The author's third volume in the series, A Scandal in Salem, will be available in November.

Wagner cracked the Top 40 in 1985 with his ballad "All I Need," just four years after Springfield's "Jesse's Girl" became a No. 1 single. Ironically, although both actors were fan favorites on GH in the early 1980s, Wagner and Springfield have never officially crossed paths before! "Never met him," confirms Wagner. "But this offer [to join the cruise] came in, and it sounded interesting. I've never done anything like it in my life, so it should be something different."

Also joining Springfield and Wagner will be THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Doug Davidson (Paul), who will be participating in question-and-answer sessions and other various fan events, and original MTV VJ Mark Goodman.

Ingo Fired From GH!

After a decade and a half in Port Charles, Ingo Rademacher (Jax) is leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL. "It is with mixed emotions and regret that I write this note to you, my fans and colleagues," Rademacher says in a statement. "After 15 years on GH portraying Jax I must say goodbye. I'm fired.

"Yes, I know that's sounds bad but sometimes little birds need a shove out of the nest to find their wings... better late then never? I'm trying to find some humor in all this. Even though this was not my call, I think my GH days were almost up anyway."

Rademacher made his GH debut in 1996, taking a short break in 2000 during which time he starred in the primetime soap TITANS before returning to Port Charles the following year. "I would like to thank everyone at GH, the producers, directors, crew, my fellow actors and ABC/Disney for making my 15 years enjoyable and fun. It was always a great place for me to work and I will have fantastic memories. I would again like to thank my fans and especially my "Jax Angels" who have been there for me, supporting me in every way, from Day One. Thank you!"

A spokesperson for GH confirms that Rademacher will indeed be exiting the canvas. Check back with Soaps In Depth for an exclusive exit interview with Rademacher. And as soon as we gets more details on his final appearance, we'll let you know.

Dixie Returns Today!

It's surprising, but true: ALL MY CHILDREN was already in negotiations to bring Cady McClain back as Dixie before word of the show's cancellation was brought down. "I waited a couple days and contacted them and asked, 'Sooo... do you still want me to come out? I could completely understand if you guys wanted to [go another direction] with the short amount of time left to wrap everything up,'" McClain tells Soaps In Depth. Because of the special place the soap has had in both the actress' career and in her heart, she also offered to return just for the ending. "They said, 'No, no, we want you to come out for as much as we can do, and we have this story idea...'"

McClain adds that she flew to Los Angeles on Mother's Day, and began taping early last week -- and makes her first appearance today, May 17! While the actress was unable to reveal whether Dixie would be again returning in spirit form, she did say that she expects the fans to be happy. "The powers that be are doing everything they can to make this as pleasing as possible," she hints. For more about McClain's return, check out her feature interview in the next ABC issue of Soaps in Depth, on sale May 30!

Are Zach & Dixie Alive?

At last, ABC is confirming what Soaps In Depth has already told you: on the heels of ALL MY CHILDREN welcoming Cady McClain (Dixie) back for the soap's final months, Thorsten Kaye (Zach) will be returning as well. But will the two fan favorites be alive and in the flesh, or just a ghostly figment of a loved one's imagination?

In confirming the news today about the comeback of Kendall's presumed-dead hubby, ABC promises that "this summer, fans will be riveted as Kaye returns to Pine Valley." And as for JR's mom, ABC's announcement points out that Dixie was "seemingly murdered" in 2007 before she could be reunited with the daughter she gave away at birth. Could both of these beloved characters still be alive? The mystery will begin to unravel when McClain first appears on Tuesday, May 17. A first air date for Kaye has not yet been announced, but the network promises that "both Zach and Dixie's returns will coincide with a summer filled with 'fan favorite' character appearances and heartfelt surprises."

So what do you think, Soaps In Depth readers? Are Dixie and Zach alive? Weigh in below!

That's the day she sheds Sam's black wardrobe and sexy image to play Rob Estes' dumped girlfriend in the Hallmark Channel's original movie, Edge Of The Garden. "Rob plays my fiancé. On a more serious note, Monaco notes the high quality of the Hallmark brand. "Hallmark makes good movies. I had so much fun. I wish I were in it more than I was, but they couldn't because of my [GH] schedule," she laments. "I could only commit to seven shooting days. But it's fun, it's cute, and we had a good time shooting it." And the bonus? "It was cool to do something different and actually get to wear my hair in a ponytail and wear clothes in color. I had a red dress on! It was awesome!"

Ratings Shocker!

As fans rally in an attempt to save their soaps, one thing that comes up time and again are questions regarding ratings. In an attempt to answer questions regarding how audience size is measured and what is -- and, perhaps more importantly, isn't -- counted when it comes to figuring out how many eyeballs a show is attracting, we went straight to the source. Here, Scott Brown, Senior Vice President of Strategies and Digital Platforms for the Nielsen company answers your most pressing questions!

While the entire conversation can be read below, two pieces of information -- answering topics most often asked of us about ratings -- are worth commenting on. The good news: According to Brown, shows viewed via TiVo or DVR within three days of their original broadcast are included in the overall Nielsen numbers. (It should be noted that as with all Nielsen information, this only applies to shows that are DVR'd or TiVo'd by those in the Nielsen pool, as detailed below.) The bad news: When it comes to shows viewed on-line -- whether via Hulu or a specific network's site -- only count if the on-line version contains the exact same commercials as the network broadcast. Why is this bad news? Because anyone who has ever watched their favorite show via an on-line site knows that in general, there are far fewer ads featured during on-line airings. Currently, none of the soaps which can be viewed on-line feature the same ads as the network broadcast, meaning that those viewing their shows in non-traditional formats are not being counted in the all-important Nielsen ratings.
