AMC's Jenny: "I'd Go Back Now!"

ALL MY CHILDREN can count Kim Delaney -- who played beloved Jenny Gardner Nelson on ALL MY CHILDREN from 1981-84 -- as one of the former stars who would love to return to the show for one last cameo before the program airs its finale on ABC in September. "I hate it! I hate it!" Delaney told Soaps In Depth yesterday at the TV Critic's press tour about AMC ending its ABC run. "I'd go back now and do a cameo [if I could]."

She's not kidding. Long before it became popular for actors to come back to soaps for quick cameos, Delaney reprised the role back in 1994 in some heavenly scenes with Michael E. Knight as Jenny's brother, Tad, hovered between life and death. While a return for the late heroine could tie in to the soap's current storyline involving "Project Orpheus" and the returns of presumed-dead favorites like Dixie, Tad and Leo, even if ABC did want Delaney to appear one last time, the ARMY WIVES star would have to get permission from her bosses at the Lifetime series to do another show. "I wanted to go to the [Daytime Emmys] but they didn't want me to," she laments.

Delaney is currently promoting her upcoming Hallmark Channel movie Finding A Family (set to air on Saturday, October 15), but she's not giving up on one last Pine Valley visit. "I'm going to work on it," she insists. "It's a good idea. And there's still time. I should call [AMC creator] Agnes Nixon."

Tell us below, would you like to see Delaney bring Jenny back to Pine Valley for one final visit?

Preston Gets "Flashy"!

On GENERAL HOSPITAL, Cynthia Preston (ex-Faith) played the seductive villainess, but she's about to show a whole new side of herself when she guest stars on the Friday, July 29, episode of FLASHPOINT on CBS!

In "Through A Glass Darkly," Preston plays a much more sympathetic character than her former Port Charles alter ego. "In the story, my daughter and I are both kidnapped," reveals Preston, who dyed her hair brown for the role. The Strategic Response Unit gets called in to investigate, but the only clue they have about the culprit could expose a dark family secret. "I worked with Enrico Colantoni (Sgt. Gregory Parker), Hugh Dillon (Ed Lane), Michael Cram (Wordy) and the rest of the FLASHPOINT gang," Preston shares. "It was a challenging part physically and emotionally -- I even pulled my quadriceps trying to save my daughter. I had a great time doing the show."

Tune in at 8 p.m. EST on CBS to see Preston in action!

Did Prospect Park Get GH Rights?

Mainstream outlets are buzzing with the news that our friends at Daytime Confidential first reported: In addition to the licensing rights for ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Prospect Park has also made a deal with ABC Daytime to move GENERAL HOSPITAL to the Internet -- whenever it is that the network broadcast of that soap comes to an end. Although there is no official word yet on when that may happen, Katie Couric's new syndicated talk show is set to launch in GH's timeslot come September 2012. "If we continue to have good ratings, you guys continue to watch, and you tell your friends to watch, we ain't going nowhere," Maurice Benard (Sonny) told the crowd at a recent fan event regarding GH's future on network television. "The only thing that has to happen also, and it's not a big deal, is that Sonny has to break Katie Couric's legs!" he quips.

ABC, however, is not yet ready to confirm that Prospect Park has secured the licensing rights for its third soap opera. (They're not denying it, either.) A spokesperson for the network tells Soaps In Depth that "GH remains a part of our line-up and we don't discuss the terms of our deals."

Soap Stars Land Reality Show!

Some of daytime's hottest stars will soon have a new home on primetime television! The full cast has been announced for E!'s upcoming DIRTY SOAP docu-drama series: GENERAL HOSPITAL's Kelly Monaco (Sam), Kirsten Storms (Maxie), ONE LIFE TO LIVE's John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex), Farah Fath (ex-Gigi), and DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Galen Gering (Rafe) and Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) will be the subjects of the eight hour-long episodes. And the producers behind the series are no stranger to the daytime world, either! ALL MY CHILDREN alums Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) are serving as executive producers under their Milojo Productions!

"The soap industry is at a defining moment and the time is ripe for a series that goes inside this iconic world and explores the unique bond that these actors share," says E!'s Lisa Berger, President, Entertainment Programming, E! "No one knows the inner-workings of the soap community better than Kelly and Mark, and it is exciting for us to work with them, in addition to some of the reigning kings and queens of soap featured in the series." Adds Ripa and Consuelos, "We're very excited to be behind this show for E!, and having met on the soaps we know all too well how much work and dedication it takes."

Monaco tells Soaps In Depth that the series will definitely offer an insider's perspective. "It's really going to give you a glimpse into behind-the-scenes about how we work and what we go through while we're at work and when we get home. It's pretty fun. I'm as nervous as hell, though," she confesses with a laugh. "Our lives will be exposed. So cut me open and let me bleed!"

The series will certainly have built-in drama right off the bat as former BFFs Fath and Storms haven't spoken in years, and Fath and Lavoisier must decide if it's time to take their relationship to the next level! DIRTY SOAP will debut Sunday, September 25, at 10 p.m. EST on E!

GL Alum Cast On OLTL

The early exit of Robin Strasser from ONE LIFE TO LIVE means that Llanview will be in need of a new mayor when Dorian leaves town... so the soap has cast GUIDING LIGHT alumna Wendy Moniz (Dinah) in the recurring role of Mayor Finn.

Since exiting GL in 1999, Moniz has had recurring roles on primetime series such as DAMAGES, NASH BRIDGES, BIG SHOTS and THE GUARDIAN. Look for the actress -- who is married to fellow GL alum Frank Grillo (Hart) -- to make her OLTL debut in September.

Couric's New Set Not Definitely Decided

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that ABC will be giving Katie Couric use of ONE LIFE TO LIVE's New York City studio for her new talk show. Update: ABC Confirms O'Hurley's Casting

A source close to actor John O'Hurley tells Soaps In Depth that the star has booked a short arc on ALL MY CHILDREN, where he'll be working opposite DANCING WITH THE STARS alum Susan Lucci (Erica).

Most recognized for playing Elaine's boss, J. Peterman, on SEINFELD, O'Hurley has been steadily working as a voice-over artist for animated series in recent years, and also appeared on RETIRED AT 35, WIZARDS OF WAVELRY PLACE. While O'Hurley does have soap roles on LOVING, THE EDGE OF NIGHT, SANTA BARBARA, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, AS THE WORLD TURNS and GENERAL HOSPITAL -- where he made a guest appearance as a cop in scenes with DANCING's Season 1 competition Kelly Monaco (Sam) -- on his resume, this will mark his first Pine Valley visit. While details surrounding O'Hurley's character and storyline are scant at the moment, at least he'll be working with a familiar face: He and Lucci played husband and wife in the television movie Blood On Her Hands.

UPDATE: ABC has issued a press release confirming what Soaps In Depth told you this morning: John O'Hurley will guest star on AMC this fall as Kit Sterling, a producer who approaches Erica to make a movie based on the book she's written. The first of O'Hurley's episodes is scheduled to air on Monday, September 12.

Vaughan Lands New Series!

Greg Vaughan (ex-Lucky, GENERAL HOSPITAL) will be returning to ABC on a regular basis this fall! "Just joining the new ABC series GOOD CHRISTIAN BELLES as Leslie Bibb's ex-husband... as Bill Vaughn," he tweeted, the irony of his new alter ego's surname not lost. "Yep, VAUGHN. Not only am sharing the same name as my character, but it's based in my hometown/state... Dallas, Texas!"

Vaughn adds that his first day of filming is Monday, August 1. Based on Kim Gatlin's book Good Christian Bitches, the series follows Bibb's Amanda -- once the ultimate high school "mean girl" -- as she is forced to return home to Dallas, disgraced and with her two teenagers in tow, after her marriage ends in scandal. Although Amanda has changed a lot over the past 20 years, will her old classmates and hometown welcome her with open arms, or seek revenge? Scheduled as a midseason replacement, BELLES also stars Kristin Chenoweth, Annie Potts, Jennifer Aspen and David James Elliott.

Update From Prospect Park

Ever since ABC Daytime announced on July 7 that they'd reached a licensing deal with Prospect Park to continue production of ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE by moving them to the Internet, there have been few additional details regarding the situation. And while information is still scant, for the first time, Prospect Park is finally speaking out. "The love and support for AMC and OLTL is truly amazing," the company said in a statement released July 25. "Since we announced our intention to work with the shows, the fan outreach we've experienced over the past few weeks further validates our decision to work to keep them going for years to come. However, we also respect the organizations and processes that are in place so that all can apply their craft within the appropriate guilds and unions. We are in the process of working out the essential terms of our proposed collective bargaining agreements with the appropriate guilds and unions, which we must do prior to firming up deals with above- and below-the-line talent. We will provide updates as needed."

That would explain why, as Soaps In Depth reported last week, the cast of AMC still hadn't been approached to negotiate contracts with Prospect Park, despite their looming final day as an ABC production. We will keep you posted as this story develops!

Will Franco Crash Sam & Jason's Wedding?

When James Franco brought his twisted alter ego, Franco, back to GENERAL HOSPITAL last February for a two-day stint, the show promised he would be back -- and now he is! On Tuesday, September 20, Jason's nemesis returns for a little mayhem... just in time for the hit man's wedding to longtime love, Sam!

Unlike his last stint, Franco's comeback is long-term. The show isn't saying exactly how long the baddie will be staying, but expect him to have enough time to torment some of Port Charles' other residents, too. High up on the list: Jason's BFF Carly, and Franco's one-time lover, Maxie!

New Details On ABC's Prospect Park Deal!

As ALL MY CHILDREN prepares to wrap production next month, it doesn't seem that Prospect Park is quite ready to pick up where the beloved soap ends with their retooled Internet version of the series, despite reports that they'd start airing AMC just three days after its final network broadcast on Friday, September 23. An insider tells Soaps In Depth that the company still hasn't reached out to the AMC actors to negotiate new contracts. However, on the bright side, our mole adds, executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers and headwriter Lorraine Broderick have both lined up deals to continue on with the soap's move to Prospect Park.

And remember how ABC's press release said that Prospect Park would continue to broadcast AMC and ONE LIFE TO LIVE in their same length, but made no mention of how often the shows would air? Our spy reports that the latest scuttlebutt is that AMC may become a seasonal series -- not a daily one -- thus opening up the door for the cast to pursue other projects.

As we gather more information, we will let you know!

Casting News: GH Has A New Kate!

Maxie's MIA boss, Kate Howard, will soon be back to Port Charles, but she will be looking a bit different after all that time recently spent in Paris and Milan: GENERAL HOSPITAL has cast Kelly Sullivan to replace Megan Ward in the contract role of Olivia's cousin -- and Sonny's ex-fiancée. While Sullivan has had bit parts on ONE LIFE TO LIVE and AS THE WORLD TURNS, this marks her first major daytime role. She also guest-starred on LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT as a murdered astronaut, and will appear in several upcoming movies, including the thriller 333 with SUPERNATURAL's Corin Nemec and Camryn Grimes (ex-Cassie, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS). Sullivan will make her GH debut in the early fall.

In other GH casting news, the soap will be bringing two new characters into the fold this fall: Ewan Keenan, a hunky thirtysomething doctor, and Gina Soleita, the 19-year-old only daughter of a New York crime boss. Both are contract roles scheduled to start taping in September.

Walker Gets Hate Mail!

Daytime veteran Tonja Walker (ex-Alex, ONE LIFE TO LIVE; Marie, GUIDING LIGHT; Nancy, PASSIONS) will guest star in the Off-Broadway play You've Got Hate Mail on Friday, August 5. The comedy, performed every Friday night at the Triad Theatre in New York City, takes a hilarious look at sexting, lies and laptops. A kind of digital-age answer to A.R. Gurney's Love Letters, the story about an extra-marital affair gone horribly wrong is told entirely in E-mails.

"It's a riot," Walker tells Soaps In Depth, who will be pinch-hitting for playwright Jane Milmore in the role of Stephanie, the wife. "I've been asked to guest star on August 5, and then for more dates in September and October."

Milmore's co-writer, Billy Van Zandt (who also stars as Stephanie's husband in the play), says, "we've been fans of Tonja's work for many years. She has great comic instincts that are a perfect match for the way Jane and I write."

But the theater role isn't the only thing that Walker has cooking these days. She'll also appear in the upcoming independent films My Dog The Space Traveler and Excuse Me For Living, which has a star-studded cast, including SEINFELD's Wayne Knight and Jerry Stiller, Tom Pelphrey (Jonathan, GL; Mick, ATWT) and Melissa Archer (Natalie, OLTL)!

OLTL Fan Faves Are Back!

The parade of ONE LIFE TO LIVE veterans who will be returning to Llanview before the soap signs off of ABC in January has begun: a spokesperson for the show confirms that fan favorites John Loprieno and Andrea Evans will be bringing one-time supercouple Cord and Tina back to town in September. The actors were last seen on-screen in 2008 when OLTL celebrated its 40th anniversary.

"Working with John is and always has been a pleasure," says Evans in a statement. "Our characters of Tina and Cord have always had an easy chemistry, and I am delighted that we will be able to bring them both to Llanview once again!" Adds Loprieno, "Working with Andrea was one of the high points of my acting career. Her work ethic, wonderful talent and incredible sense of humor were always appreciated on the set and in rehearsal. When I think of all the times I had fun on the set or interacting with people backstage, Andrea figures prominently in those memories."

But what does the OLTL return mean for Evans' status on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, where she's been recurring as Amber's white-trash mother, Tawny? Turns out, she's just taking a brief hiatus from the CBS sudser. "We're thrilled for Andrea and her fans that she gets to return to OLTL before they go off the air to reprise a role that started her illustrious career in daytime television," says a rep for B&B. "We're also happy to report that Andrea remains a part of the B&B family portraying the character of Tawny Moore."

Stuart Damon's Back On GH!

GH~~62943_528_ful.jpgWhen GENERAL HOSPITAL's new headwriter, Garin Wolf, said, "Sometimes they come back," he meant it! A show spokesperson now confirms what we've been hearing all along, that Stuart Damon is returning to the show by late summer as the long-dead Alan Quartermaine! Damon begins taping next week.

Last time Damon's character "came back from the dead," he was not a ghostly apparition, but rather his sister Tracy's conscience. You know, that voice of reason on her shoulder, always pointing out when she was being more devil than angel. This time around, GH is keeping the secret of his "appearance" close to the vest, and the theories abound! Is Alan's presence, again, divine intervention for Tracy? Or is his otherworldly encounter to ease Monica's broken heart and help her move on, the way Stone's "visit" helped Robin? Or will he be there for Jason, as he contemplates becoming a father? Or, will Alan usher his aging father, Edward, to the "other side"?

What we can tell you is that fans are screaming for more Quartermaines and even hoping for a reversal of history's fatal blow to that popular family. In fact, some have suggested a Bobby Ewing/DALLAS twist where the death of this clan was just a really bad dream. Now there's an idea we can stand behind!

Ramirez Gets A Badge!

Marisa Ramirez (ex-Gia, GENERAL HOSPITAL) is starring opposite Rachael Carpani, Treat Williams, and Kathy Baker as a top cop on Lifetime TV's new drama, AGAINST THE WALL. The series revolves around a single Chicago detective, Abby (Carpani), who embraces her new position in the Internal Affairs division, much the chagrin of her close-knit family of patrol officers. "IA is known as the rat squad... but she is very excited about the job and gives every case her all," says Ramirez, who plays Abby's partner, Lina Flores. "My character joined IA about seven years ago, so it's old hat. I like to watch her get excited about something and just roll my eyes."

Word to the wise, this isn't just another police procedural. Sure there will be lots of banter between the partners, but like most programs on the network, this one is geared for women. What's in it for the female soap fan? Well to start with, Lina is married -- to hunky Jason George (Michael, SUNSET BEACH; OFF THE MAP) and very pregnant! "She's working, eating a lot, and having a lot of hormonal attitude," Ramirez grins. "I hope it'll be fun to watch me waddle around." But perhaps more importantly, she says, this is a show with heart. "There are things that will make you laugh out loud, things that will make you cry, and things that will make you commiserate with the characters and what's going on in their daily lives. It's not just about solving cases."

AGAINST THE WALL premieres on Sunday, July 31, at 10 p.m. EST. For more on the series, visit For a sneak peek, check out the video clip below!

See Underwood On THE BIG C!

Within weeks of exiting ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Brittany Underwood (ex-Langston) had already landed two new high-profile gigs! First up is her appearance on the Showtime series THE BIG C, starring Laura Linney. Underwood appears as Greta, a member of the swim team coached by Linney's character, Cathy. "It's a good show that makes me laugh and cry every episode," says Underwood of the series, which follows Cathy's journey of living life to the fullest despite a cancer diagnosis. In the episode, Underwood gets lots of one-on-one time with Linney (who won a Golden Globe for the role) as Cathy attempts to bolster Greta's confidence while protecting the teen from her overbearing father.

Next up for Underwood, who is over the moon with her good fortune, is a role in the HBO miniseries GAME CHANGE, based on the bestseller book about the 2008 presidential election. "I am playing Willow Palin, and Julianne Moore is playing Sarah Palin. She has just been wonderful," gushes Underwood of the Academy Award nominee (famous in daytime circles for playing AS THE WORLD TURNS twins Frannie and Sabrina). "It's a really fun project."

Underwood's episode of THE BIG C will debut on Monday, August 1, at 10:30 p.m. EST/PST. There is no date yet for Game Change.

Duhamel Dishes On AMC Return!

He's become a bona-fide movie star since exiting ALL MY CHILDREN, but when Josh Duhamel (Leo) heard that the soap would be going off the air, he immediately wanted to revisit the series that launched his acting career. His alter ego has been presumed dead since Leo plummeted over a waterfall in 2002 while trying to save new wife Greenlee from his maniacal mother, Vanessa. But as Duhamel himself tells Soaps In Depth, "if there was a chance that I was still alive, then I wanted to go back and do something. I really enjoyed those three years that I had on AMC, and I've kept up with a lot of the people there."

Just a few days after Duhamel placed a call to casting director Judy Blye Wilson, "they called back and said they'd love to do it." While we couldn't get the Transformers star to divulge any storyline specifics -- not even whether Leo returns in the flesh or as a ghost -- Duhamel does promise that his character's reunion with Greenlee "is respectful to what's going on in her life now."

Look for Duhamel to appear on-screen for a handful of episodes starting Thursday, August 4. And for more of our interview with the star, check out the ABC issues of Soaps In Depth on sale July 25 and August 8!

Irizarry Speaks Out!

As rumors continue to fly about which ALL MY CHILDREN stars will be moving with the soap to its new Prospect Park home online, Vincent Irizarry (David) has released a statement via his Facebook page regarding his status. "I've been getting a lot of questions from many of you, asking two things: am I going to the AMC Fan Event, and will I be staying with the show when it transitions to the Internet?" he posts. "The first is easy, yes, I plan on being at the AMC Fan Event at the end of the month. The second, not so easy. Some have even informed me that it was reported somewhere that I'm staying with the show. That is not at all true at this time. Until I hear from the new producers to learn what they're offering, I have to work under the assumption that my contract with the show ends on August 31 and plan accordingly, which I am."

La Rue Dishes On Her Return!

Tuesday, July 19, will be a big day for Eva La Rue. Not only is she returning to the set of CSI: MIAMI to begin her exciting seventh season as heroine Natalia Boa Vista, but she'll also be seen resuming her role as ALL MY CHILDREN's Dr. Maria Santos that day! "Maria is still in California -- I only did a phone call," La Rue previews of her first two episodes. "but I know that my storyline has to do with David and the Orpheus Project and kind of bringing that down."

While bummed that her real-life pals Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) had not been able to join her for this stint, La Rue was pleased to see other aspects of Maria's history being utilized and hopes to reunite with former castmates like Alicia Minshew (Kendall) and Thorsten Kaye (Zach) when she returns for three more episodes this August. "I think it is personal for Maria because remember when David brought her back from the dead and made her believe that she was a murderer?" La Rue asks. "He made her be on the run, and that is how she met Zach. So she has always hated David."

The actress may not have yet shared any on-screen reunions, but off screen, La Rue had a great time being on the AMC set. "It felt like old home week," she says. "And it was really exciting for me to hang out and chit chat with everybody and catch up. I'm really looking forward to going back again."

For more from the popular performer, including her feelings about saying a final goodbye to Maria, don't miss her upcoming feature in Soaps In Depth.

Is Lucci A Done Deal For AMC's Online Relocation?

Despite reports that Susan Lucci (Erica) has agreed to join Prospect Park's retooled Internet version of ALL MY CHILDREN, a spokesperson for the Emmy-winning actress tells Soaps In Depth that isn't necessarily the case. "I don't think she's made any decisions," says the rep. "She's talking to lots of people, and to the best of my knowledge, she hasn't made any plans."

Interview: Look Into Hickland's Eyes

Yes, ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Lindsay was scheming, manipulative and, let's face it, homicidal. But really, those were just her endearing qualities. "I always love playing that girl," her portrayer, Catherine Hickland, laughs. "She is so out there."

Of course, while Lindsay's been in jail actually paying for her crimes, Hickland hasn't let anything constrain her. The writer, cosmetics queen and stage performer admits to not following OLTL on a regular basis, but she still looks back fondly on the show. "When I do check in, I feel like the fan I used to be before I was ever on it. Everyone there is so talented."

Viewing the show as a fan, though, has made the cancellations of OLTL and ALL MY CHILDREN all the more poignant. The actress has been front and center with protestors, taking to the streets and to Twitter to support the soaps. "For me," she affirms from the thick of a protest, "[being here] is way more real than it is to any executive or anybody who doesn't bother going out to where the real viewing audience is."

Genzel Plays Doctor!

Who's the latest soap vet to drop by CINEMAX's anthology series FEMME FATALES? ALL MY CHILDREN's Carrie Genzel (ex-Skye)! "I play Dr. Marlowe, a no-nonsense doctor who runs a very exclusive and experimental clinic in Mexico," the actress tells Soaps In Depth of the episode that airs this Friday, July 15, at 11 p.m. EST. "I had a blast on set playing the intimidating Dr. Marlowe. In fact I think I had so much fun getting into character that the crew was a little afraid of me at first," she laughs. "But once I tripped over an electrical chord in between scenes my cover was blown, they all saw the goof I really [am]."

Genzel is currently in Vancouver, working on her next gig: a starring role as the prosecuting D.A. in the upcoming Lifetime film The Pastor's Wife, based on the real-life 2006 media sensation where Mary Winkler murdered her small-town preacher hubby.

Check out two preview clips of Genzel in FEMME FATALES below!

Stars React To Soaps' New Life

While the news that ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE will get a new lease on life thanks to ABC's licensing deal with Prospect Park, details about the transition from television to Internet remain scarce... including exactly how many actors will move to the new format. "We have all been released so no one owns us," tweeted Bobbie Eakes (Krystal, AMC). "They have to renegotiate with all the actors."

Indeed, some of the actors have already been written off -- like OLTL's Farah Fath (ex-Gigi) -- and some like Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC) have started to book other projects. "It would have to happen quickly to be able to maintain the original cast," Morgan told Soaps In Depth just a few weeks ago when asked about the then-rumored prospect of the soaps finding a new home on the Internet.

Numerous questions remain unanswered: Will the soaps continue to air daily? When will the new site launch? Will the episodes be free to watch, or will it be a subscription service? One AMC actor, who spoke to In Depth on the condition of anonymity, seems skeptical on exactly how things will work out, even with Prospect Park promising to deliver the programs with the same quality and in the same length and format, per the agreement with ABC. "My personal thought, it won't be the same show," says the setsider. "There's no way they can afford to produce the show like we currently do and make any money from it online. Even Susan Lucci's (Erica) pay for one episode is more than an online show could generate. I'm guessing the whole thing would be low-budget and different. It's just too expensive!"

Prospect Park will essentially have to start from scratch, says the source, since the cast is all released from their contracts as of September, and aren't automatically going along with the licensing deal. "None of the actors' contracts will carry over, and it's not likely that many will sign on to do a Web series, which will no doubt be unable to pay the same salaries as ABC. It's great that someone is ready to invest in keeping serial programming alive on the Internet, but I don't think people should expect that the same show we know, as it exists today, will seamlessly carry over into this new format. Hopefully some exciting new stories will carry on. But let's not assume that we are 'saved.'"

AMC's J.R. Martinez (Brot) for one, is enthusiastic about the news. "I think it's safe to say -- FANS WIN," he tweeted. "I will say this -- my current contract was to terminate on August 31st. Now we must see who they want to keep & renegotiate with. Not sure..." Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca) now plays THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Heather, but she is thrilled for her former Pine Valley family. "Best. News. Ever? Right up there anyway. Long live AMC, OLTL!" she posted on her Twitter page.

Robin Strasser (Dorian, OLTL) was incredibly thankful to the fans who have been hard at work ever since the April 15 announcement of the cancelations with their campaigning to save the soaps. "Big SHIFT is a GIFT," she tweets. "Just know ALL THE FANS GOT THIS TO HAPPEN! Take a bow! YOU did it! WOW." Adds Lenny Platt (Nate, OLTL) "OLTL lives on... in cyberspace. Times, they are a changin.'"

AMC & OLTL Move To The Web!

It's official: ABC has licensed ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE to film/television/music company Prospect Park in a multi-year, multi-platform deal, which will enable the soaps' stories to continue beyond their ABC finales.

Prospect Park -- helmed by former Disney Studios head Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz, both executive producers of USA's ROYAL PAINS -- will continue production of AMC and OLTL, delivering the programs via online formats and emerging platforms including Internet-enabled television sets. (Additional information regarding those details will be released by Prospect Park at a later date.) "We are privileged to continue the legacy of two of the greatest programs to air on daytime television," said Frank and Kwatinetz. "Technology changes the way the public can and will view television shows. We believe that by continuing to produce the shows in their current hour format and with the same quality, viewers will follow the show to our new, online network."

Adds Agnes Nixon, creator of the shows, "I'm just so happy that ABC found a home where the legacies of AMC and OLTL can continue. I'm looking forward to working alongside these wonderful people as we ensure that the shows will continue with all the love and excitement we've always had."

The final AMC episode will air on ABC on Friday, September 23, and OLTL will last air in January 2012.

Soaps To Be Saved?

A story in the New York Post this morning seems to be giving a sense of relief to ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE fans. According to the report, ABC has sold the online rights to the soaps to the TV, film and music company Prospect Park (run by a former Disney Studios exec). Both series will reportedly move with the cast and crew intact, and pick up where storylines left off on a new, TV-focused online network. AMC and OLTL are said to be the first of several TV shows to find a home on the site.

Could this be the answer to fans' hopes and prayers and campaigning to save their beloved daytime dramas? Maybe, maybe not. Well-placed sources tells Soaps In Depth that the Post's story is not entirely accurate, but there will be some "good news" coming down the pike soon. As soon as we find out more information, we'll let you know!
