The Season 13 contestants of DANCING WITH THE STARS were announced during last night's BACHELOR PAD on ABC -- and ALL MY CHILDREN's J.R. Martinez (Brot) is one of the celebrities who will be vying for the mirrorball trophy this round!

Martinez follows in the footsteps of AMC castmates Cameron Mathison (Ryan), Susan Lucci (Erica) and Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan), all of whom have appeared on previous seasons of the ABC primetime dance contest. Some of the celebrities Martinez will be competing against include David Arquette, Chaz Bono, Ricki Lake, Kristin Cavallari, Nancy Grace and Carson Kressley.

So how did Martinez make the DANCING cut? "It was two-fold," the show's casting director, Deena Katz, tells Soaps In Depth. "The idea of having a war hero on the show always intrigued me. Right now, the way our country is, you want something you can hope for and someone you can root for. The problem is it's always very difficult to find a person who's a war hero and is also a star. As a fan of AMC and of daytime, I started watching J.R. and I thought he was amazing. I had other people in other seasons and it was as if all the stars aligned and that this was the time to do it. We go on the air the week AMC goes off the air. The timing was perfect."

For his part, Martinez says he's excited to start showing off his fancy footwork... and hopes to, in some way, incorporate a tribute to AMC. "It's definitely something that I've talked about with my partner," he reveals. "I want to pay tribute to the show that gave me a platform for where I am now."

The new season of DANCING WITH THE STARS will premiere with a two-hour live broadcast on Monday, September 19, at 8 p.m. EST.

Prospect Park Offers Lucci A Similar Salary!

On the heels of Walt Willey (Jackson) announcing that the ALL MY CHILDREN cast received their first proposals from Prospect Park earlier this week, Deadline is reporting that Susan Lucci (Erica) was the first cast member to receive an offer from the media company. Furthermore, the Emmy winner has reportedly been offered nearly the same salary she's currently making at ABC, and is mulling over the proposed contract.

"I think that this could be the beginning of something very, very exciting," Lucci recently told Soaps In Depth about Prospect Park's plans. "It feels groundbreaking and visionary. It seems only fair that this show with Agnes [Nixon, AMC's creator] -- who's always been such a visionary -- that this show should be in this position to forge that new ground. It seems that everybody from Prospect Park are visionaries themselves and have a track record. They are substantial people in the industry. It seems that if anyone can make a go of this new move and this vision it's them. I think if we were to go forward we'd be in the best of hands."

Here's hoping that Lucci is just the first fan favorite that Prospect Park brings to its retooled version of ALL MY CHILDREN when it launches online in early 2012!

Prospect Park Execs Visit OLTL Set

Soaps In Depth has learned that executives from Prospect Park met with the cast and crew of ONE LIFE TO LIVE this past Friday. While details of the meeting are still scant, we do know that officials from the production company are thisclose to making deals with the union guilds and the paperwork is in the hands of lawyers. "They're very ambitious and they're very happy to have us and ALL MY CHILDREN," Jerry verDorn (Clint) told In Depth at this weekend's OLTL Fan Club gathering. "The fans [are] not going to see a difference in production. They said to us, 'We did not buy these shows just for their name and [with the intention] to gut them and put them on in a totally different, unrecognizable form. The fans are going to love it."

verDorn's OLTL co-star, Mark Lawson (Brody), agrees. "Prospect Park seems very enthusiastic and very focused on making the show the best it can be. I think they will update the show for the next generation of viewership and make it a show that's competitive."

While there are reports that the online version of OLTL could debut on Monday, January 16, there is no official word yet from either Prospect Park or ABC on when the show's final network broadcast will be. AMC Casting: TerBlanche Is Returning!

Could ALL MY CHILDREN supercouple Ryan and Gillian be getting a happy ending after 10 years? Soaps In Depth has learned that Esta TerBlanche will be making a return appearance to the soap, a decade after Ryan's beloved princess died and her heart was donated to Brooke's daughter, Laura. As AMC viewers may recall, David was the doctor who performed the surgery.... could Gillian still be alive and well, and factor into the mysterious "The Orpheus Project"?

Our sources report that TerBlanche has already picked up her first script. If Gillain does resurface in the flesh after all these years, will a reunion with Ryan leave Greenlee out in the cold? Possibly... unless, of course, Leo is still alive and well, and comes to reclaim his wife! Josh Duhamel first appears as Greenlee's presumed-dead hubby this Thursday, August 4, so stay tuned to see how this storyline begins to unfold! We sure will!

UPDATE: A spokesperson for AMC confirms that TerBlanche will be back for a handful of episodes, but at this time, air dates are unavailable.
