Last month, Lynn Herring (ex-Lucy, GENERAL HOSPITAL) told us about shooting some scenes for cable network Investigation Discovery, and now we know exactly why. It seems that ID is looking to lure some soap fans over to its channel with their new daytime block they've dubbed DAYS OF OUR KNIVES. Beginning on Monday, August 20, the various shows aired from 1-4 pm EST will be true-life tales, but featuring bumpers hosted by some familiar faces from daytime television.

"Investigation Discovery is already the home of guilty pleasure programming, but perhaps there is no more popular example of a classic guilty pleasure than the soap opera," says Henry Schleiff, president and general manager for the network.

Each week, DAYS OF OUR KNIVES will have its own theme and different stars to introduce the shows:

Week of August 20: Tainted Love Week hosted by GUIDING LIGHT's Robert Newman (Josh) and Kim Zimmer (Reva)

Week of August 27: Wicked Women Week hosted by GH's Herring and Jacklyn Zeman (ex-Bobbie) with DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Judi Evans (ex-Adrienne)

Week of September 3: Revenge Week hosted by DAYS' Drake Hogestyn (John) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope)

Week of September 10: Bad Boys Week hosted by Matt Ashford (Jack, DAYS) and Kin Shriner (ex-Scott, GH)

Week of September 17: Double Lives hosted by ALL MY CHILDREN's Laurence Lau (Greg) and Alicia Minshew (Kendall)

Week of September 24: Family Secrets hosted by AS THE WORLD TURNS' Austin Peck (Brad) and Terri Conn (Katie)

In addition, on Monday, September 3, at 1 pm EST, the DAYS OF OUR KNIVES block will offer a first look at the new series DEADLY AFFAIRS, hosted by the legendary soap diva Susan Lucci (Erica, AMC). She will be hosting the top of the hour and provide a 10-minute sneak peek at the series which will premiere Saturday, September 8, at 10 pm EST.

Of course, scheduling the DAYS OF OUR KNIVES programming block during the same time as network soaps creates a bit of a conflict for fans, but hey — that's what DVR's were invented for, right?
