Shannon Kane left her role as ALL MY CHILDREN's Natalia in order to further her film career but as luck would have it, she wound up landing another soap! The actress can currently be seen on TeenNick's HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS. In the popular drama, a young woman's (ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Brittany Underwood [Langston]) life changes drastically when she becomes a star and wins the love of her rock idol (Eddie Duran), only to face some unexpected complications. "I play graphic designer Tracy Madsen," Kane offers. "She's married to Eddie's agent, Jake (Brandon Bell), and she's his rock!"
Continued after the jump
Might the freshman series, currently airing weeknights at 8 p.m. EST, return for a second season now that Phelps has taken over as executive producer of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS? That remains to be seen. "I've been hearing speculation about the show coming back," Kane confides. "I'm hopeful, and I wouldn't be surprised if it did."
Girl With A Gun
In the meantime, Kane awaiting the release of her creepy new film, The Collection. "It's a sequel to a movie called The Collector. I love horror movies, but I was totally freaked out by the villain in this [series] because he's very eerie, unpredictable, and just crazy!" she previews. In it, Kane plays Paz, a kick-ass bounty hunter who gets hired to save a kidnapped girl. "I got to do my own stunts and carry a huge target pistol was totally fun!" she enthuses.
Alas, soap fans won't have to strain too hard to recognize Kane in this movie. She says this character isn't all that different from what she played on AMC. "Natalia was pretty hardcore she was in law enforcement," Kane offers. "It's the same with Paz. She has a hard facade to her, and she doesn't take any [gruff]!" The Collection opens Friday, November 30, in limited release.
Kane remains grateful for the friends that she made ("J.R. Martinez [Brot] is like family to me," she says) and the discipline she obtained while working in daytime TV. Now, she's happy to be keeping them both with her as she moves forward. "I have no problem doing soaps I love them but I also wanted to branch and do films." she reflects, adding that she's done just that. "For me, it's perfect. Now I've got the best of both worlds."
