With Llanview transplants Michael Easton (McBain), Roger Howarth (Todd) and Kristen Alderson (Starr) legally required to stop working at GENERAL HOSPITAL by the end of this week so that the characters can be part of the new online ONE LIFE TO LIVE, the future of the actors remains in limbo. Prospect Park has made a statement regarding the situation:
"Prospect Park understands that GH has featured Llanview transplants Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson among others while we arranged production of the new version of OLTL. These characters, who we own under our agreement, are obviously essential to our production efforts, and a large reason we licensed the program. We also understand that legions of GH fans have grown to love these actors and characters in a short time. So even though we are paying ABC millions of dollars to license the shows, we have been, and continue to be willing to equally share the characters with GH and ABC. It's a win-win for the actors, the shows and fans, who love all of the shows and storylines. We hope to work out these agreements with ABC and the actors."
Whether this means that Starr, McBain and Todd will pop into Llanview for a bit to help launch the online OLTL and then return to Port Charles, or whether the actors will remain with GH and OLTL will recast the roles is unclear at this time. Time will tell, and as further updates roll in from ABC and Prospect Park, we'll let you know!
