Ilene Kristen Makes A Daytime Comeback!

DeliaSamSilas.jpg

It was pretty clever of GENERAL HOSPITAL to cast ONE LIFE TO LIVE vet Ilene Kristen (Roxy) as Ava Jerome's long-lost mother, and not just because she and Ava's portrayer, Maura West, look like they've come from the same gene pool. But having Kristen appear as Delia Ryan, the character she played nearly 25 hears ago on RYAN'S HOPE, made it that much more special for long-time soap fans!

"When [executive producer] Frank Valentini called, he said, 'Are you sitting down? We want you to play Delia,'" Kristen recalls. "My mouth dropped open. I knew they couldn't call me about Roxy. I was kind of thinking that the call I would get would be, 'Will you put that brown wig on that you wore in My Big Gay Italian Wedding?' Maybe playing a Bensonhurst gal. I'm from Brooklyn, so I know I can do that. But I think Delia is a good idea."

It's been 24 long years since Kristen lived and breathed Delia, and although the character's history had to change to make having an affair with Victor Jerome and delivering his baby possible, she's okay with that! "It does change history. But, look, RYAN'S HOPE is not coming back. Am I right to assume that?" she laughs. "I didn't snap back into Delia's personality; I snapped into Ilene's!"

Julian's Cover Is Blown!

MorganAvaJulian.jpg

Oh, that Morgan Corinthos. Good thing the GENERAL HOSPITAL hunk is nice to look at because he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. He's been around his dad long enough to know that if you find something out that you shouldn't know about a mobster, the last thing you do is go up to them and say, "Dude, I know something about you that I shouldn't know and I'm gonna tell." But Morgan did that anyway. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Derek wouldn't hesitate to take out the kid. And we're not talking about dinner and a movie.

As fate would have it, bad guys always get a lucky break in Port Charles and Derek was no exception to the rule. Morgan was all set to spill his guts to Sonny but he overheard that Michael would be working for their pop, once again proving that his big brother was daddy's favorite. So irked, Morgan figured, "You wanna clobber my dad? G'head, Derek. In fact, I'll help ya." But that wasn't as easy as Derek aka Julian thought. Ya see, Morgan wasn't the only one who knew his true identity. So did Robert, Anna and Sonny. In addition, he didn't know that they knew what they knew and they knew that. You following this? To sum it up, there was a nasty Mob battle brewing and Morgan was the epicenter!

While the Corinthos/Jerome war loomed, Nikolas, Britt, Robin, baby Ben, Obrecht and Faison returned from Greece and set up camp at Wyndemere. "It's good to be home," Faison said. Yes, Faison. That's not a typo. He once owned the Gothic mansion and, in fact, the whole island long before the Cassadines did. Anyway, he and Obrecht bickered like an old married couple fighting over the remote. As entertaining as that was, Britt was not amused and opted to take Ben to GH to be tested, just in case he caught cooties from his grandparents. Alone with Faison, Robin learned that he shot Jason, killed him and kicked him off the pier. Just when she thought her day couldn't get any worse, it did. Britt and Nikolas returned from GH with the news that Patrick and Sabrina were engaged!

Next week, Morgan wants to go after Sonny, Carlos is curious about Sabrina's motives and Halloween on Spoon Island proves to be quite surprising! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

AMC & OLTL Eligible For Daytime Emmys!

amcoltlnewlogos.jpg

The National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that there would be two new categories added to the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

The first is Entertainment News, which encompasses shows like ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and EXTRA. But it's the second category that is of the most interest to soap fans! It's called Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series, which will include any drama series with less than 35 original episodes during the calendar year. So Web series like VENICE and THE BAY would be eligible for their own Daytime Emmy.

But more importantly, this means that shows that produced more than 35 episodes can compete in Outstanding Drama series, and that includes the Prospect Park productions of ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE! That's right, AMC and OLTL will still be able to compete against GENERAL HOSPITAL, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and DAYS OF OUR LIVES! And that includes all of the actors and crafts people!

"I am very pleased to include these new categories in the Daytime Emmy® contest," said David Michaels, Senior Executive Director, Daytime Emmy® Awards. "I strongly believe that every broadcast entity should have a chance to compete for an Emmy® Award in a true peer to peer competition."

Florida Fans Can "Bet" On Finola Hughes!

FinolaTheBet.jpg

Fans of Finola Hughes (Anna, GH) in the Fort Lauderdale area may be able to catch a glimpse of the actress at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival on Friday, October 25. The actress will be there for a screening of her film, The Bet, which she directed. The film's story is about family members searching for love as they ready themselves for the next chapter in their lives.

"I'll be picked up by the airport by Kin Shriner (Scotty)," Hughes says. Hmm, given what we know about Shriner's sense of adventure, does Hughes believe that she'll get to the festival? "I'm in charge of that," she chuckles, adding, "Kin's a great guy!" (We couldn't agree more!)

For ticket info on seeing The Bet and to purchase tickets, just click here.

Hughes adds that she's already thinking about her next film, which will likely be a comedy. "That's all I think about," she says. "I have [something] in the pipeline. It's a romantic comedy. I'd like to stick with those for now even though I know I have a love of drama in me."

AMC Star Is B&B's New Ridge!

ThorstenKayeHeadshot.jpg

Well, the inevitable has happened: THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL has announced that they have recast the role of Ridge Forrester! Beginning on Friday, December 13, the legacy character will now be portrayed by soap star Thorsten Kaye.

B&B executive producer and headwriter Bradley Bell is confident the recast will wow viewers. "Thorsten's powerful screen presence and vast range as an actor has intrigued me for years," he says. "The timing was right so I took the opportunity to cast him in the role of Ridge Forrester. I'm confident Thorsten will make this role unique on every level."

Best known to daytime audiences for his role as ALL MY CHILDREN's Zach, Kaye takes over for Ronn Moss, who departed in September of 2012. With AMC currently on hiatus and a return to production still not scheduled, Kaye was able to join B&B, although if AMC does return, Zach's fate will have to be decided.

But Kaye will have his work cut out for him on B&B! It will be very interesting to see how Ridge reacts when he returns from a year in Paris to find the love of his life, Brooke, getting ready to marry Bill!

Freaky Friday on GENERAL HOSPITAL!

FaisonBenObrecht.jpg

If you didn't yet watch Friday's GENERAL HOSPITAL, drop whatever you are doing and do it right now. And whatever you do, don't read this commentary until after you do, because it's going to blow some major turning points for you. Then again, trust us when we say that even if you read every word, you'll still want to see it for yourself!

Cassadine Island -- or The Island of Lost Souls, as Luke dubbed it -- was the place to be. More specifically, Faison's bedchamber, where Obrecht -- with "the girls" on full display -- made a lusty play for the object of her obsession. Proving yet again that he's not your typical dude, Faison was far more interested in playing with the baby than showing Obrecht a good time. He did eventually agree to slip between the sheets with her, but on one condition... that Obrecht don the Anna mask! In essence, a ticked Dr. O replied, "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that!" She gave him a good slap and stormed off, suggesting that if Faison got lonely, he could always "don the mask and behold your reflection. That should bring you hours of pleasure!" Oh, snap!

Meanwhile, Nik and Britt arrived on the island. ("Hall of mirrors on the left," he said, "torture chambers on the right!") After finding out from a guard that Jerry was on the island, Nik took control of the situation. Now, here's hoping his first action was to fire said guard, who apparently just took Jerry at his word when he strolled in way back when and said, "Oh, yeah, um, Prince Nik totally said I could crash here." Anyhoo, Nik went off in search of his unwanted houseguests. Left to her own devices, Britt was reunited with her mom. While Obrecht wanted to cry on her daughter's shoulder about what Faison had put her through, all Britt wanted was to reunite with her son. So imagine her horror when she got upstairs -- after shoving our beloved Dr. O so hard she fell and hit her head -- to find Ben being rocked by his grandpappy!

Down in the lab, Robin told Jerry that his best shot at recovery was to find Luke (who was currently jetting back to PC) and synthesize a cure from his blood. "How much of his blood would I need?" Jerry pondered before adding, "Never mind. I'll take it all!" When Robin wanted to talk about her loved ones, Jerry snapped, "It's not all about you!" and said they'd be leaving soon. Of course, he issued the standard, pre-travel warning that if she screwed with him, he'd kill her and everyone she loved.

At that exact moment, her true love -- having been convinced by Liz that the call from Robin had been wishful thinking on his part -- was proposing to Sabrina! But before Sabrina -- who'd had a fiery confrontation with Carlos that left us thinking maybe the lady doth protest too much when claiming to be over him -- could even accept by saying, "What took you so dang long?" we cut back to Cassadine Island where...

... wait for it...

... wait for it...

... Nikolas found Robin! Not almost found or might have found, but really, honest-to-goodness found Robin!

So did you cackle as loudly as we did at Faison's indecent proposal? And did Tracy's sadness at Luke's borderline indifference make you wanna weep? Sound off in the comments below, and then remember to tune in Monday at 2 p.m. EST for the next episode, which we will, as usual, be live-tweeting on @soapsindepthabc!

Anna Times Two!

FaisonAnna.jpg

Obrecht plans Faison's escape while Robin phones home!

It doesn't get any better than hearing GENERAL HOSPITAL's Cesar Faison shriek like a little girl who's just seen a monster in her closet! He's usually the scarer not the scaree! But seeing "Anna" pull at her neck like gum stuck on her shoe to reveal she was just Obrecht in a rubber mask was enough to turn him into a terrified tot. He was furious with her! His mood quickly shifted when she mentioned that he had a male heir. Now they must sneak him out of the prison to meet his baby grandson, which wouldn't be easy. Not that it was a piece of cake for Obrecht to sneak out either. After slapping the Anna mask back on, Obrecht headed out just as the real Anna headed in! If not for the scowl on "Anna's" face, we wouldn't have known that the OTHER Anna was the REAL Anna!

Robin was finally had the cure for polonium poisoning and wanted Jerry to honor his deal to let her go. He, however, wanted to test it on his guinea pig to make sure Robin wasn't trying to kill him. Luckily, he had a lab rat (Luke) upstairs who would serve his purpose. What he didn't know was that Tracy had come to Luke's rescue and there was no way she was going to let him die, especially since he declared his undying love and desire to give her "the whole enchilada" if he made it out alive. So, when Jerry entered, intent on giving Luke just a smidgen of the cure, Tracy held a gun to him, demanding the entire vial.

Meanwhile, Robin worried that Jerry would kill her, despite his promises. And he probably would. What she really needed was for Anna to search for her. Check. And to find a cell phone so she could call Patrick. Check! Oh, Monday is gonna be a doozy of an episode!

This week, Patrick reacts to hearing Robin's voice, Britt's nightmare begins, and is Luke really cured? Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

"I'm Going Home To My Family!"

RobinJerry.png

GENERAL HOSPITAL fans, hold onto your seats because this week is going to be a wild ride!

After a very long year of comatose silence, Robert greeted Anna with an ear-to-ear grin and a cheery, "Hey, sweetheart!" Oh, how we missed that smile and charming accent. Fans have been antsy for his awakening, wondering if he'd remember seeing Robin alive. He didn't. At least, not at first. Just as Anna was ready to call it a night and head back to her cozy Swiss hotel room, Robert closed his tired eyes and had flashes of walking in on Obrecht. "She was with Robin, Anna!" he shouted. It was clear from the "Whatchoo talkin' bout?" look on her face that she thought he was delirious.

Obrecht talked with Robin and painted Sabrina as a schemer and a manipulator. But Robin turned the tables on her, konked her out by smashing a glass beaker on her head and declaring that she was going home to her family! If only it were that easy, Robin. Luke was also on Cassadine Island, but his escape was beginning to look far less likely. Although Jerry brought him breakfast in bed, Luke wasn't even strong enough to sit up. Jerry had a good reason to keep him alive, though -- to use him as a lab rat! Jerry figured that Robin might want to poison him and Luke was the perfect guinea pig to test any cure she might concoct!

Meanwhile, curiosity was killing Alexis. She thought it was more than coincidence that Sam's father's name was Julian and the name Julian Jerome kept popping up. Duke showed her a newspaper clipping of Julian Jerome when he was younger to see if he was the same man Alexis had a one-nighter with. She wasn't sure and wished there was a way to find out. Duke told her there was! Alexis could compare Sam's DNA with Julian's biological son, Lucas Jones!

This week, Sonny reacts to the news about Ava and Morgan's sexcapades, Tracy comes to Luke's rescue, and Jerry offers Robin a challenge! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

Kelly Is UNREAL!

Josh4.jpg

While the fate of ONE LIFE TO LIVE remains in limbo due to Prospect Park's lawsuit against ABC, the actors aren't just sitting around twiddling their thumbs! According to Deadline, Josh Kelly (Cutter) has landed himself a role in a new pilot for Lifetime titled UNREAL.

The series, inspired by the award-winning short Sequin Raze, centers around a hit competitive dating show where a young staffer played by Shiri Appleby must manipulate the relationships amongst the contestants to pump up the drama. Kelly's role of Jeremy will cast him as a cameraman on the show who is also the ex-boyfriend of Appleby's character.

If the pilot is picked up for a full series, that could impact Kelly's role on OLTL, if it returns for a second season on The OnLine Network. We'll just have to stay tuned to see what happens!

Is GH's Brannon A Criminal?

ChadBrannonHeadshot.jpg

GENERAL HOSPITAL fans will get to see Chad Brannon (ex-Zander) again on an upcoming episode of CSI when he plays Ryan, a maintenance worker at a Vegas casino whose wife recently died of cancer leaving him with a baby and piles of medical bills. "Really just a foundationally challenging and emotional character to grasp and get a hold of," he says. "So that was a ton of fun to play as an actor and get to develop that."

Naturally, Brannon's character finds himself at the center of the episode's mystery. "There's a huge robbery at the casino," he teases, "and somehow I'm involved. The show just has a ton of twists and turns of figuring out how I'm involved, but it's fun because I'm involved in almost every aspect. So it's a great episode of CSI."

Sadly, he didn't get to go to Las Vegas to shoot any location footage for the show. "Most of it was shot at Universal Studios," Brannon admits, "which is where they've been camped out for all of 14 seasons. And then we shot a little location stuff, at my character's house. So yeah, we didn't get the chance to go to Vegas, which would have been fun!"

Brannon's episode, "Take The Money And Run" airs Wednesday, October 2 at 10:00 pm on CBS. Don't miss it!

AMC's Turner Turns Inventor!

AidenTurner.jpg

You may know Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan, ALL MY CHILDREN) as one of daytime's most dashing and talented actors, but there's another side to the man that you may not be aware of: inventor and entrepreneur!

It started years ago when Turner was on vacation with friends. "People were losing things everywhere," the actor explains. "They were getting frustrated and walking around the house like headless chickens! It was kind of ridiculously funny, but at the same time, it was frustrating." That frustration led Turner and two friends to co-found a new company with the idea to finally a device that would ensure nothing is ever lost again. "I literally would lose my head if it wasn't screwed on," he laughs. "Now I finally have something myself that I'm not going to be leaving anything behind any more!"

Flash forward six years and two prototypes and we've got Ty, a rechargeable Bluetooth enabled disc that's smaller than a poker chip, can be attached to anything and ensures that nothing is ever lost again. The idea is simple. "9.9 times out of 10," says Turner, "if you're reminded within two minutes of leaving something behind, you wouldn't lose it because you can go back exactly where you were and it would be there."

"You put the app on the phone, it connects to the Ty like a Bluetooth headset and then when you walk away a certain distance from what it is you don't want to lose, the phone goes off," Turner explains. And for those who don't heed the warning? They've got that taken care of too, with a GPS signal that can be tracked by yourself, any good Samaritan in the Ty community or the company itself to pick up and send back to you.

But now Turner needs your help. In order to start manufacturing, the company needs an initial order of 10,000 Tys and the funding to complete it. To accomplish the goal, Turner and his partners have turned to crowdfunding site, Indiegogo, hoping to raise $200,000 by November 13 — in time to ensure that anyone who contributes will receive their own Tys just before Christmas!

Want to know more? Check out and share Ty's Facebook page, or head over to their Indiegogo page for an in depth explanation of Ty's features and contribute to the campaign!
