A.J. Realizes "Ava Killed Connie!"

If Ava and A.J. would just take a time-out, they'd realize they have more in common than their initials. We're talking, of course, about their love of vodka. When he's stressed, he downs it straight; she likes it shaken with an olive or two. Friday they were both swimming in it! Hearing from Carlos that he botched the "hit" on A.J. rattled her chain and, let's just say, she wasn't doing a happy dance. And when he said he accidentally left his gun behind at the Quartermaine mansion, she freaked. "Tell me again how you can yourself a professional!" she barked. He apologized, like that would calm her down. Although she put the operation on hold until she figured out what to do next, there was one thing she knew for sure... A.J. had to go!

Meanwhile, A.J. was filing a statement with Anna and Dante about the masked intruder who tried to kill him. He didn't know who it was but he was "damn sure Sonny sent him!" He was wrong. After taking another guzzle or two of vodka, he flashed back to the night Connie was killed and realized that she was alive when he left... and when Ava arrived. "It was her! Ava killed Connie!" he concluded. At least he was right about that!

Robin broke the news to Liz and Anna that she was leaving Port Charles. Neither of them understood how she could just up and leave her family again. "If you knew why I was going, not only would you support me, but you would be thrilled," she told Liz. Anna was a little harder to convince. Actually, she was rather miffed. Robin appealed to her maternal instinct, saying she was raised to do the right thing, even when it was something difficult. Anna was a puddle. And when Anna cries, we cry.

Next week, A.J. lets Ava know he's on to her, Robin says her goodbyes to Patrick and Emma, and Ric has a rather surprising disclosure for Liz! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

A Who's Who Guide For BEACON HILL!

Next Wednesday, March 5, marks the launch of an exciting new Web soap, BEACON HILL! New media pioneer Crystal Chappell (Dani, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL; Olivia, GUIDING LIGHT, etc.) is part of the team behind the drama, which centers on two Boston families at opposite ends of the political spectrum.

With political rivalries, romances gone bad, blackmail and family dysfunction, BEACON HILL has all the makings of a must-see series! In anticipation of the show's premiere, Soaps In Depth chatted up some of the top players in the drama for the scoop!

Alicia Minshew (Sara Preston)
"Sara left the love of her life, Kate, for this reporting job, and the break-up was painful. She's now come back to Beacon Hill for a job and bumps into Kate, so it's reigniting feelings. There are issues with Sara and her grandfather, whom Kate is now working with, and she has a tumultuous relationship with her mother, who is a drinker. She's trying to be a good reporter but stay true to her family. Everything kind of gets mixed up and muddled!"

Sarah Brown (Katherine "Kate" Wesley)
"When Crystal sent me the script, I read all 12 episodes and called her immediately. I originally wanted to play the character of Sara -- I understood where she's coming from. But Katherine ended up being much more of a challenge. I love every bit of this."

Who Is Ric Lansing?

hearst pic.jpg

If Tuesday's GENERAL HOSPITAL gave you the impression that Ric Lansing is capable of doing a whole lot o' "no good," you'd be correct. Here's a refresher course in the man who will undoubtedly be stirring up some major trouble while in town.

From the moment Ric arrived in Port Charles, he had a strange obsession with Sonny. Although he offered Sonny his legal services time and time again, he was continually turned down. That rejection only served as fuel for the fire. One night, Ric found Carly drowning her sorrows at Jake's and saved her from downing a drink drugged by one of Faith Rosco's goons. Ric took Carly to a hotel that night and the following morning she woke up naked in bed with him! He used the moment to his advantage by blackmailing her into talking him up to Sonny.

A couple of months later, Carly discovered she was pregnant and, much to her relief, Ric was not the father. She told Sonny about being drugged and presumably raped by Ric. Sonny was furious and wanted to kill him. After being kidnapped and escaping, Ric told Sonny to meet him at Sonny's childhood vacation home in Martha's Vineyard. There, Ric revealed he was Sonny's half-brother and he blamed him for their mother choosing a life with Sonny over a life with Ric. Oh, and he did NOT have sex with Carly.

Determined to destroy Sonny one way or the other, Ric then plotted to blackmail Sonny's sister, Courtney, into marrying him even though he and Elizabeth had fallen in love. Jason got Courtney out of that mess but Ric's feelings for Liz had Faith seeing the green-eyed monster. Jealous that Liz was pregnant with Ric's baby, Faith pushed her down a flight of stairs, causing her to miscarry.

Ric erroneously blamed Sonny for the fall and plotted to take his and a pregnant Carly's baby to replace the one that Liz lost. To that end, he kidnapped Carly and chained her to a wall in a secret panic room in his and Liz's new house. To insure that Liz wouldn't get pregnant in the meantime, he put crushed birth control in Liz's food. One day Liz found that panic room but passed out before she could do anything about it. When she woke up, she alerted the police.

Alcazar's men kidnapped Carly and, to redeem himself in Liz's eyes, he helped find her. However, Liz served him with divorce papers anyway. Hoping to win her back, he convinced Scotty to make him the assistant D.A. She slowly warmed up to him again, and they remarried. Pregnant with Zander's child, they got Zander to sign away the rights. After Zander's death, Ric admitted to Liz that he could never give up on his vendetta against Sonny and they split.

After Alexis realized she had to tell Sonny that Kristina was his daughter, Ric proposed. Meanwhile Alexis became pregnant with Ric's child and, following a train wreck, Molly was born. To push Alexis' buttons, Sam seduced her mother's husband. Unaware that Alexis knew of his infidelity, he tried to make their marriage work when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. In the end, he cited her cancer as the reason she was unable to care for Molly and he was awarded custody.

Kristen's Back Today!

Today marks the GENERAL HOSPITAL return of Ilene Kristen as Ava's mother, Delia. The actress will be playing her iconic RYAN'S HOPE character in scenes airing for the rest of the week. "Tune in... my General Hospital shows will air Feb 25, 26, 27, 28," Kristen announced on Facebook.

During the actress' last visit to GH, Delia only got to interact with Sam and Silas -- but a long-awaited reunion with daughter Ava (played by Maura West) is ahead this time around! "It was fantastic," Kristen says of working alongside West. "Maura is fantastic. They were fun scenes. It was like playing tennis with somebody. I think both of us are pretty good tennis players!"

Kristen, who'd most recently played ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Roxy, adds that she "kind of knew" following her October appearance that Delia would be back again. "It wasn't a total surprise to me because of the way they wrote it the first time," she shares. "It led me to believe that they would be having me back. I didn't know when.

"It was just fabulous seeing [executive producer] Frank Valentini," she continues. "He's doing great. And Ron [Carlivati, headwriter] is doing great. I'm really happy for them."

After this week, is the door still open for a third return? "I would think so," says Kristen. "I would like it to be a little more than 'just hop over.' I think I could add something to the show."

Plus, Kristen would get to give Delia back to the fans who still approach her to this very day about their love for the character. "It's a tremendous compliment to me, because it was so long ago, for people to very specifically know a lot about Delia. People were fanatical about RYAN'S HOPE and Delia is such a part of their vocabulary. So it's great that I'm playing Delia on GENERAL HOSPITAL. It's odd and very ironic, yet it works."

Robin Breaks The Bad News!

"How could she?!" you ask. "She," of course, is GENERAL HOSPITAL's Robin and yep, she's choosing to leave her husband and daughter for an undetermined length of time to bring Jason back to life. Patrick and Emma aren't too happy about it either! Can you blame them?

Jason's life was at stake and if it meant he would die without her help, then when that plane headed out of town the next day for unknown parts, Robin would be on it! She had to go, angry Patrick or not. Voices raised, faces became flushed, and tears poured. Emma didn't like what she saw and heard and wanted to know why Mommy and Daddy were fighting. Mac escorted the little lady to the kitchen for cocoa while Patrick told his wife that if she was serious about leaving, then she'd have to be the one to break the news to their daughter. Aware that she was about to break her little girl's heart, Robin fibbed right through her story, saying she was going to Africa to help sick people. Emma understandably didn't react well and ran out of the room crying. Mac, on the other hand, read between the lines. He thought there was more to the story... and he was right.

While Emma was crying her eyes out and Patrick was gritting his teeth, across town at the Metro Court, T.J. was planning on an evening of romance (and sex!) with Molly. They both wanted her first time to be special, but maybe he should have thought of hooking up with her somewhere other than the busiest place in town where everyone knows them! He tried to be discreet, but the MC lobby had foot traffic like it was Grand Central Station. Olivia got him to admit what he was up to and she had one of "those" talks with him. When Molly showed up shortly thereafter, they pushed the elevator button to go up to their room and shared a steamy kiss... unaware that Rafe was watching and figured out what was going on!

Father's Day came four months early in Port Charles. Michael and Kiki turned to their Dads for relationship advice, and both Sonny and Silas sort of said the same thing -- suck it up and apologize! Even Sam had a tender Daddy moment with Julian. Hoping that she'd give him a chance and let him into her life at least a little, he made a donation in her brother Danny's name to the foundation researching the disorder he had. Sam was stunned speechless and when she showed her appreciation for his thoughtfulness with a big hug, you could almost see the "Grinch's small heart grow three sizes!"

Next week, an unexpected twist in Robin and Patrick's life, Molly and T.J. find themselves in uncharted waters, and a masked assailant attacks A.J.! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

"Lilly and I started to talk about dancing on our show, and, after I said, 'Oh, I've danced all my life...' Lilly challenged me," explains Madison. "But the second part of my sentence was going to be 'but I haven't danced in over a decade!' Before I could say that the challenge came up!"

"I've never danced before," says Melgar. "The closest thing I've ever gotten to this is cheerleading. I've dreamt of [dancing] my whole life, but have never had the opportunity or made the time — until now."

The two actresses shared a video of their dance-off on a recent episode of SOAPBOX, which featured guests Matthew Ashford (ex-Jack, DAYS; ex-Tom, GH) and Soaps In Depth's own Michael Maloney. To check out the episode — and see who won the dance competition — click here!

AMC Star Pens Emotional Memoir

Cady McClain (Dixie, ALL MY CHILDREN; Rosanna, AS THE WORLD TURNS) is self-publishing her memoir, titled Murdering My Youth. And the actress is having a contest in which fans can vote on what the final cover will be! Click here to pick your favorite!

"The book is a series of my memories about growing up in an alcoholic environment," McClain shares with Soaps In Depth. "It is also a raw, brutally honest look at what being in 'show business' can entail for a young girl and the extremely close relationship I had with my mother."

The two-time Emmy winner says that she's been told that the book should come with a warning. "There's a lot of violence in it," she allows.

What led McClain to join the list of soap stars who've chronicled their life stories? "I was inspired by a woman who asked me to be the keynote speaker at her writers' conference in Kansas City called Write The Dream," she says. "She had followed my blogs throughout the years and offered to help me self-publish this book. Her encouragement was a huge part of me letting this story out into the world. I hope it inspires others to tell their story or at least to not feel so alone with their experiences."

McClain will be signing copies of Murdering My Youth at the Write The Dream Conference in Kansas City, MO, on Friday, March 7. Click this link for more information. And as the keynote speaker, she will be encouraging her audience to find their voice via a method she calls "dreaming your way to a great, personal story. It's basically like taking a person's psyche and putting it in the structure of a fairy tale or myth."

McClain say that she loves to teach and interact with other creative minds. Curious what else has been going on in her head? Then check out Flip Fantasia, her trippy short film about four young urban men coping with the tragic after-effects of a wild night out in New York City, when it screens as at the Macon Film Festival. Catch it at the Cox Capital Theatre in Macon, GA, on Friday, February 28 a 4:14 p.m. or you can watch it on YouTube by clicking this link!

The Truth About Britt's Baby!

Some newer viewers — and even a few longtime ones — have been asking questions regarding the paternity of GENERAL HOSPITAL's Ben, so we figured we'd help folks remember how this all went down!

First, the facts: Ben is not the son of Dante and Britt, no matter what the devious doc is telling people! The baby is actually Dante and Lulu's child. As of now, the only people who actually know that are Britt, Obrecht and Brad.

It just so happened that when Britt needed a baby in order to land Patrick, Dante and Lulu were attempting to have one via their surrogate, Maxie. That, you may recall, didn't end particularly well, as Maxie miscarried their child and then got pregnant with Spinelli's baby!

Britt, however, had better luck. She got a baby and — at least briefly — the guy. But from the beginning, smart viewers suspected that she'd stolen one of Dante and Lulu's fertilized embryos... and they were right!

With a little help from Brad, Britt managed to impregnate herself with Dante and Lulu's baby. But as of right now, what everyone believes is that Britt only used Dante's sperm sample. After all, you'll recall that Dante and his wife are under the mistaken impression that their remaining embryos were destroyed.

So while Dante now knows that he's Ben's father, there's still a major bombshell waiting to explode. How will Nikolas react when he finds out that Britt's "confession" was really just another in a string of deceptions?

Valentine's Day In Port Charles!

Nothing says Happy Valentine's Day like a lively volley of back and forth bitch slapping! That's right, love was in the air for almost everyone in Port Charles. While GENERAL HOSPITAL's Duke was trying desperately to make up with Anna, Sonny was charming Olivia with a diamond necklace, Ava was seducing Morgan, Nikolas was preparing to propose marriage and Molly and T.J. agreed that they were ready for "that," Britt and Elizabeth were exchanging threats and handprints on the other's cheek!

The day began with Duke showing up at Anna's office with a gentle smile and huge red roses. But to his surprise he was greeted not with a "thank you" but with a look of absolute annoyance that he was to make amends. Anna had it locked in her head that as long as he worked for Sonny, their relationship was at an impasse. As she saw it, she couldn't be with a man who was a criminal by choice. He'd be happy to walk away from Sonny once he knew they were safe from Julian's threat, but not until.

"The Jeromes have to be vanquished and then we can go back to our regular lives where you risks life and limb and I wanders aimlessly around the streets looking for employment," Duke snapped. It wasn't until he asked if she was willing to lose what they had that she began to soften. He didn't let go of her during the 20 years he was captive in a Turkish prison and he wasn't going to let her go now. Tears rolled down Anna's face and she kissed him. She couldn't turn him away either.

Liz arrived at Wyndemere to talk to Britt, who knew something ugly was about to happen. Through a fake smile and condescending tone, Liz returned Ben's hairbrush, saying it must have accidently fallen in her purse. With a triumphant grin plastered on her porcelain face, Liz said, "Just like, accidentally, the other day, I picked up Dante's water bottle and then I accidentally took a hair from Ben's hairbrush and took it to the lab. And then I accidentally had it tested against Dante's DNA. And then... I accidentally read the test results." But Britt could dish it out as good as she was forced to take it, even calling Liz a lying, cheating whore! With that, Liz slapped her. Then Britt tested her by daring her to do it again. So Liz did! And Britt slapped her back!

Nikolas and Spencer brought V Day gifts to Dante and Lulu. Thanks to Spencer's overactive mouth, he let it slip that Nikolas bought Britt a ring. At first Lulu was surprised that he was going to propose to Britt, but then Nik not only assured her that he loved Britt, he even told her why. Lulu approved. When the two Cassadine men returned home, Britt was still rattled by her encounter with Liz and was prepared to tell him the truth about little Ben.

While, Molly and T.J. were profess sing their love and agreeing their first time had to be safe and special, Ava was handing over a flash drive to Sonny that had all of Julian's secrets. Morgan was impressed, Sonny not so much. He wanted to wait until the info checked out before passing judgment on Ava. But until that was done, he insisted Morgan treat Ava "like the enemy she is." Morgan agreed to that for all of two and a half minutes!

Next week, Franco fights for his life, Patrick learns the truth from Robin and Liz makes a move! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

"Can You Accept A Gay Son?"

It's amazing that one tiny three-letter word could evoke so much fear, loathing and awkward rambling in a macho brute like it did in GENERAL HOSPITAL's Julian Jerome. Sure, that word was "gay" and, yes, it was coming out of his son Lucas' mouth, but you would've thought Lucas had announced he was a murderer or something. Kind of like his dear old DNA Dad himself. Julian had two choices --accept his son's lifestyle or not. But judging by his "er... uh... em" response, it looked like he was leaning towards Option B.

The whole father/son thing wasn't much better for Franco and Scotty. Having escaped jail with Kiki's help, Franco had nowhere to turn for help except to Scotty. Dressed like a room service waiter, Franco pushed his way into Scotty's Metro Court room and asked him to get into Heather's Miscavige room and find out what she did with Carly. They bantered and bickered and talked over each like the women of THE VIEW until they came to an agreement.

Meanwhile in the Spoon Island catacombs, Heather was left shaken by a cave-in that pinned Carly beneath a beam and, for all intents and purposes, "killed" her! "You can't be dead, not like this!" Heather said. "You have to die of stab wounds. It means I have to save you to kill you the right way." Oddly enough, that made sense. Heather gave her CPR and screamed "breath!" in her face. Low and behold, Carly gasped for air. Unfortunately for her, Heather found that monstrous knife under the rumble and was prepared to make good on her threat!

Ava showed up at the PCPD to check on Kiki, who had been arrested for her part in helping Franco escape police custody. Within five minutes, Ava's attention shifted to her break up with Morgan, which irritated Kiki to no end. "You are sitting here crying to your incarcerated daughter about how your boyfriend -- who's your daughter's ex-husband -- was forced to break up with you by his Daddy." When Kiki put it that way, it did sound sort of silly. The good news is that Ava finally got her daughter to chill and agree to let Mommy Dearest get a her lawyer, namely Diane Miller. But Ava was going to need Diane more than Kiki did because A.J. finally remembered who got off the elevator the night Connie was murdered... Ava!

Next week, Carly's rescue attempt goes really bad, really quickly, Ava decides to "switch sides," and Valentine's Day means taking more than one relationship to the next level! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

Former SOAPnet Executive Has Died

Deborah Blackwell, the former general manager of SOAPnet, has passed away at the age of 63, reports Deadline. The television executive, who built the channel for Disney ABC Cable Networks Group and ran SOAPnet from 2001-07, died following a seven-year battle with Pick's disease, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. Under her direction, SOAPnet grew to a network that not only ran same-day episodes of the ABC Daytime dramas, but acquired THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and DAYS OF OUR LIVES, added a primetime programming slate and launched original series like SOAPOGRAPHY, I WANNA BE A SOAP STAR, the SOAP TALK chatfest and the GENERAL HOSPITAL: NIGHT SHIFT spin-off.

We send our condolences to Blackwell's family.
