Franco Threatens To Reveal Sonny's Big Secret!

SonnyCarlyFranco.jpg

When a Mob godfather and a known serial killer face-off over a woman, you know it's going to get ugly. But when Carly is that coveted woman, you can bet that those idle threats being bandied about won't stay idle for very long!

Much to Sonny's disapproval, Carly had it bad for Franco. She did, however, assure her ex that her current beau could never disrupt their friendship and that she would always be there for Sonny whenever he needed her. That warm-fuzzy sentiment evoked a warm-fuzzy hug, which, of course, Franco appeared just in time to see. He wrinkled his brow, scowled and told Sonny, "I know your secret, too, so maybe I'm somebody you shouldn't mess with!"

Franco's "me cavemen, Carly my woman" tone left her speechless, a feat that doesn't happen all that often! Sonny pretty much told Franco what he could do with his threat, as if pushing him would make him back off. Never! Instead, Franco beelined it to the one person who'd have a teensy problem with the news that Sonny killed A.J. That's right. Hello, Michael!

Sam and Patrick found black paint on a twisted piece of guard railing at the sight of the car accident, scraped it off and brought it to the nearest garage. The mechanic remembered a black sports car coming in the day of the crash but was uncomfortable with giving them the name of the vehicle's owner. It wasn't until Patrick pled with the man, telling him that his premature son died because of the crash that the mechanic relented. He pulled the data up on the computer and walked away so Sam could take a peak at it. When she saw the name the car was registered to, her mouth dropped open and the only words that escaped were, "Oh... my... God."

Michael's ELQ project to turn the old, rundown waterfront buildings into high-end apartments, boutiques and cafes enraged Levi. "We need to fight for the little guy that can't fight for himself! We need to put a stop to this project!" he told Maxie, who was on the fence about his mission. Shortly thereafter, Levi and Maxie showed up at the brownstone and Levi announced to Morgan and Kiki, "We read about your so-called revitalization project in the paper, and we're here to shut it down!"

Monday, Franco is poised to tell Michael the truth about A.J.'s murder, Sam and Patrick discover who owned the car involved in the accident, and Ava enlists Delia in her crazy scheme! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

GH's "Historical" Guest Star!

DuncanHursleyGH.jpg

If you want a quick glimpse at GENERAL HOSPITAL history, keep your eyes peeled today when Sam and Patrick meet up with a mechanic who has some vital info for the duo. Duncan Hursley, the grandson of GH creators, Frank and Doris Hursley, will be playing the role!

"With the 50th anniversary, I felt a lot of pride in, 'Wow. My [grandparents] created this iconic soap opera,'" Hursley says. "So I reached out to [executive producer] Frank Valentini. He had me come to the studio and said I needed to come back again and he'd get me on the show. I'm a product specialist for Mazda and because of my automotive background, they wanted me to play this mechanic. I had a blast!"

Hursley grew up watching GH, although, at the time, he had no idea of his family connection. "Before I had a consciousness of who my grandfather was, I would come home from kindergarten early and my mom's mom would fix me tea and a sandwich and I'd sit on the floor in the den in front of the TV. My grandmother got very concerned that my mother was going to be so upset because she was discovering that I was starting to follow all of the connections on the soap opera. She was watching GH."

Fast forward to 1990, when he was given a small role with less than five lines of dialogue in a scene with Decker and Dawn. "I didn't realize until I got to the set that they were taping the 7,000th episode," Hursley remembers. "They had a big cake, and the whole cast and crew was assembled. The producer at the time was Joe Hardy. He called me up to do a toast and cut the cake with Emily McLaughlin (ex-Jessie) and John Beradino (ex-Steve). It was so surreal."

Returning to GH after all these years touches Hursley deeply. "When I was at the studio that day," he says wistfully, "I saw my father and grandfather doing a jig."

Maxie's Custody Heartbreak Continues!

Maxie(2).jpg

That Eat/Pray/Love voyage of self-discovery GENERAL HOSPITAL's Maxie went on obviously didn't include a single seminar called "How To Spot A Manipulator In The Crowd." Levi pulled the wool right down over her eyes to get Nathan in trouble with the court, and she was none the wiser. "How did Judge Walters even find out you lied to him?" she asked Nathan. Well, DUH! Levi's the only other person living in the apartment, Maxie! Was that a blonde moment or what?

Anyway, after reviewing the documents and considering Maxie's heartfelt plea to be a part of her daughter's life, the judge came back and said that her character had not fundamentally improved, therefore, he was returning to his original ruling of not allowing her to see baby Georgie. "She's not ready to be a mother," he said coldly, adding that they'd revisit the matter again in six months.

"I lost Georgie again," Maxie moaned. Levi said the first thing that came to his mind, which was, of course, something stupid: "You need to center yourself and breathe. Breathe." Maxie pulled away and shouted, "I don't want to breathe! I want to scream!" and she ran out. Levi was going to follow her, but Nathan stopped him. "Not so fast, Dunkleman," Nathan McMuscles said. "You're the one responsible for what happened here today."

Sam confessed to Molly that she was kind of ashamed to admit that she was suspicious of Nina. "It was almost like she was too understanding," Sam was embarrassed to note. She didn't want to sound like a monster. Criticizing a wheelchair-bound woman who just woke from a 20-year-coma can leave one with that impression, but Sam's intuition was right on the mark.

At that very moment, Nina was skillfully planting the seed in Silas' head that maybe the fact that Sam was still wearing her wedding ring was a sign that she wasn't over her dead husband. After Nina gave him her blessing to enjoy an evening on the town with his girlfriend, the sadness in Nina's eyes turned to outright evil! She raised herself out of her wheelchair and kicked it across the room! She flashed back to a few months earlier, sneaking into Silas' pitch-black apartment and smashing it to smithereens!

Jordan, meanwhile, demanded to talk to Julian's boss, like, now! "Give me the goods on our boss and we'll protect each other," she said convincingly. Julian was just about to do that when they were interrupted by a rather shady dude named Mickey Diamond, who said, "Our boss sent me." His job was to "make sure the business was running smoothly." And then he sent Julian out of town for a few days. At least he didn't give him a one-way ticket to the Pine Barrens!

Monday, Carly confronts Ava about moving in with Sonny, Maxie turns to her BFF for comfort, Nathan call Levi on his lies and Nina's plotting continues! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

Daytime Emmy Awards Preview!

GrahnDiamontEmmyShow.jpg

Fans have lots of questions now that it's been announced that the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are going to be broadcast not on a network or cable outlet, but rather streamed via the Internet at www.daytimeemmys.net beginning at 5:00 p.m. PST on Sunday, June 22. Soaps In Depth spoke to David Michaels, Senior Executive Director, Daytime Emmy Awards for The National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences, about what viewers can expect on the big day!

Soaps In Depth: Will the format be different? Will the show have a time limit?
David Michaels: As I understand it, the plan is for the show to go straight through — there will be no commercial breaks. We're treating it like a live show. It'll run for two hours.

In Depth: There tend to be fewer rules on the Internet about what people can do. Might we see more of a party atmosphere for this show?
Michaels: I'm not sure. It's the same setting room and people, the same party. I don't know if people will feel that they can take advantage of the "no-holds-barred" rules of the Internet or not.

"Dead" Ric Is Alive!

RicIsAlive.jpg

It was a ten-tissue day on Friday's GENERAL HOSPITAL, with more tears falling in Port Charles than on Wall Street circa 2008!

Elizabeth and Molly were hit hard by the news of Ric's death. Or, should we say, the kind of death that people on soaps succumb to, which is more like a playing possum, "just kidding!" kind of death. Understandably, Molly was a wreck. "My Dad is dead!" she screamed, throwing herself into Momma Alexis, who matched her daughter tear for tear.

Truth be told, Anna's idea for Ric to fake his death and go into witness protection until they found Julian's boss was really the only thing they could do to protect the people Ric loved. Not that Ric was happy with the plan. In fact, he was fighting mad that it was their only option. When Anna unzipped the body bag and he jumped out, he was one mad hombre. It was torture for him to lay there motionless while his daughter and the woman he loved wept in agony over losing him.

Part of Molly's grief was that she didn't get to say goodbye to him, so Alexis reluctantly brought her to the morgue to say a final farewell. Anna used the old "she shouldn't see her father in that condition" speech on Alexis to keep the teen from seeing that he wasn't dead at all. But, just like any/every wily teenager, Molly snuck in. Hidden behind a door, the very much alive Ric had to listen once again to his little girl fall to pieces. This time, it was he who couldn't stop crying! After everyone turned off the waterworks, he slipped on some scrubs, put on a surgical cap and mask and left, not to be seen or heard from again until... well, until storyline dictates!

Meanwhile, Liz was in her own fog, unable to shake her grief. She had vanished from her shift at the hospital, which threw Obrecht into a tizzy. Obrecht chewed Liz a new one, Liz sassed Dr. O back and when all was said and done, Liz got fired. Nikolas having seen on the TV at The Floating Rib that Ric was shot and killed, raced to GH to comfort and support Liz. Their warm, fuzzy interaction was spotted from afar by Britt, who got "that" look on her face with "that" wicked eyebrow. When Obrecht saw her daughter looking troubled, she asked if she could do something to help. Britt thought a moment and said, "Help me get Nikolas back." Uh oh.

Felix was drippy-eyed, too. Not because of Ric, but because of Sabrina, whose pain over her newborn son's death caused her to go a little bonkers the day before. What a good friend that Felix is. He cried for his BFF's heartache and was rewarded for his sympathetic soul with a bear hug from Lucas in a hospital gown.

Monday, Sonny learns of Ric's death and confronts Anna, Duke has it out with Julian, Rafe is caught in the act, and Patrick -- hold onto your seats Scrubs fans -- admits he thinks his marriage is over! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!

Oprah Checks In With Benard!

MauriceBenardGal.jpg

GENERAL HOSPITAL star Maurice Benard (Sonny) will be appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Network series, OPRAH: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?, later this summer!

Back in 2007, Benard and his wife, Paula, were guests on THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW in an episode featuring the topic of bipolar disorder. Although the Emmy winner has been outspoken about the mental illness that both he and his character share, Benard rarely appears on talk shows... but who could say no to Oprah?

Now, Soaps In Depth has learned, OWN caught up with the Benards for a segment on WHERE ARE THEY NOW?, the popular series that tracks down the most memorable OPRAH SHOW guests for updates on their lives today.

We will let you know as soon as we get a date confirmed for the Benard family, but in the meantime, all new episodes of OPRAH: WHERE ARE THEY NOW? air every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.

Is Miller GH's New Jason?

MillerBurton.jpg

Ever since Billy Miller left the role of Billy at THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, there has been speculation that the fan favorite would be snatched up by GENERAL HOSPITAL to take over the part of Jason (previously played by Steve Burton, who is now Y&R's Dylan!). And last night, TV Guide's Michael Logan added some fuel to that particular fire by posting to Twitter: "Billy Miller. General Hospital. Done deal? This is what I'm hearing."

When contacted for comment on the possible casting coup, a rep for GH replied simply, "We don't have any info on that." Could the rumor be true? Is Robin going to succeed in saving Jason and bring him back to Port Charles with a slightly different face? Or could Miller be playing someone else? What do you think?

"I am beyond thrilled to be hosting what I'm told is the most important television event of the year," Griffin says. "Knowing that over 100 million people from every corner of the planet will be watching, I will try to keep my nerves at bay and deliver a great show. I can only hope that at the end of the evening, critics and fans alike will compare it to the experience they once had watching Neil Armstrong take man's first step on the moon. My only regret is knowing that this epic evening will distract millions of viewers from enjoying this year's World Cup. I apologize to FIFA."

Nina Makes Herself At Home!

SilasNina.jpg

Oh, Nina, Nina, Nina. You're projecting this "sugar and spice and everything nice" kind of air but -- we add with a single raised eyebrow -- we have this sneaking suspicion that there's a little vinegar running through those veins.

Awkward! That's the feeling of every moment alone between Silas and his "not as dead as he thought she was" wife, Nina, on GENERAL HOSPITAL. He's sleeping on the sofa while she snuggles up in his bed. Alone. A fact she attributes to his romantic, gentlemanly nature of wanting to get to know her again after her being in a 20-year coma. Ha! She is either as naïve as a Disney princess or as manipulative as that princess' evil stepmom.

Silas has to fess up about his loving and rather healthy relationship with Sam sooner rather than later. If he's as chicken as all that, maybe something will bring up the topic in a more indirect way. There is one thing that ties him and Sam together that doesn't involve the need for contraception and that is Rafe. Could Rafe's newly discovered addiction to drugs be the catalyst for Silas' truth coming out?

Also on the unhappy home front, there's Ava. Sonny insisted she move into his spacious place until she has her baby... and then he's going to kill her. At least he gave her fair warning, right? And there's no way she can escape, considering he's got Max shadowing her like he was secret service on the POTUS. That might solve one problem for Sonny but it is creating another giant one. Olivia.

Olivia approached Sonny with hopes that they could get along because of their grandchild. And, frankly, she was slowly softening to his charms. Then the door to his house flew open and in walked Ava, shouting, "Honey! I'm home!" For a minute there, Olivia went silent. Yes, she did. If the news that Ava was moving in wasn't twisted enough for Olivia, then the other shoe dropped and she learned Ava was pregnant. Ava kinda got a kick out of the idea of ripping apart this once happy relationship. In fact, she looked rather pleased with herself. Olivia's reaction to Sonny's begging wasn't nearly as happy. "You go to hell!" were her exact words.

Three was most definitely a crowd in Maxie's apartment, too. When Nathan rushed out to answer his phone wearing nothing but water drops and a towel, all was fine. And we do mean fine! Maxie resisted all humanly temptation by keeping her eyes on him above the neck and expressed her supreme gratitude for the way he went out on a limb for her with the judge. Their eyes locked. And they stayed locked. Until Levi interrupted with a "What's going on here?"

After Nathan stepped out of the room to put on some clothes (bummer), Maxie told Levi how Det. Sexypants-less did her a huge favor. Not what Levi wanted to hear. She told him she decided she wanted to see her daughter and how Nathan, basically, lied to the judge to hopefully make that happen. Levi sensed there was something going on between his girlfriend and their other roomie. Although Maxie denied it, Levi was undoubtedly right.

Monday on GH, Nathan reacts to news that his sister/cousin is alive, Nina learns the truth about Rafe and a confrontive Morgan has it out with Sonny and Ava! Don't forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!
