Bon Appetit!

Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie) learned good taste at a young age

If ALL MY CHILDREN'S Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie) didn't have a career as an entertainer, she most certainly could have opened up some type of eatery. You see, she's been exposed to the dining biz her entire life, due to the fact that her mother owns a seafood restaurant.

"My parents are divorced, so my mother was single while I was growing up," she explains. "There were a lot of days that I was at her restaurant making cardboard houses in the back. I grew up there."

The Family Business
When Hendrickson was 14 years old, she traded the cardboard for pen and paper, and started waitressing. But she did so amongst her loved ones. "My uncle is one of the owners, and my aunt works there, too. There's a lot of family going on in that place," she says with a laugh. The Shack, which is the name of the establishment, is a landmark on Long Island. "People come all the way out to eat there," the actress says proudly. "They all come to us to have our clams and calamari." According to Hendrickson, The Shack is a very special place, because it's only open six months out of the year. "It's really wonderful food, but you only get it for a limited time, and then it's gone. So, when it opens back up again, everyone's like, 'Oh, Shack food!"

Stay Outta The Kitchen
As if having such delicacies like lobster and shrimp at her disposal wasn't great enough, Hendrickson reveals something else. "My father is in the business, too. He has an Italian restaurant with his brothers."

Between seafood and Italian, it seems as if Hendrickson has plenty of cuisine to choose from. "I do," she says. "That's probably why I don't cook that much!" — Colleen Humes
