Today is a do-not-miss-it day for GENERAL HOSPITAL fans! Are you ready for the craziest treat ever, as served up by executive producer Frank Valentini and headwriter Ron Carlivati? In honor of the show's 51st anniversary, they have gathered the "three Carlys" for one-off-the-charts surprising scene with superstar Maurice Benard (Sonny)!
"It was like Disneyland to have all three of them on one show!" Benard says of the original Carly, Sarah Joy Brown, her super-popular recast, Tamara Braun, and the current blonde spitfire, Laura Wright. "I got to work with three actresses that I respect. Each one brought something different to the character. I had to be cautious of the fact that it was still Carly. I had to play three different energies but be aware that it was still Carly. It was very tricky. Each woman has a different energy, so if I just played the reality of what the circumstance was, it wouldn't work. It's a fine line, but it felt right. I felt really good about it."
If the cast and crew's reaction to what they shot is any indication, the fans are in for a treat! "I heard that people really loved it," Benard says. "It felt really honest but you also have to wink a tiny bit. This kind of thing has never been done. I haven't seen it yet but, as a fan myself, I can't wait!"
So don't forget to tune in today, Tuesday, April 1, at 2 p.m. EST and 1 p.m. PST/CST on ABC!
