“Dead” Ric Is Alive!

It was a ten-tissue day on Friday’s GENERAL HOSPITAL, with more tears falling in Port Charles than on Wall Street circa 2008!

Elizabeth and Molly were hit hard by the news of Ric’s death. Or, should we say, the kind of death that people on soaps succumb to, which is more like a playing possum, “just kidding!” kind of death. Understandably, Molly was a wreck. “My Dad is dead!” she screamed, throwing herself into Momma Alexis, who matched her daughter tear for tear.

Truth be told, Anna’s idea for Ric to fake his death and go into witness protection until they found Julian’s boss was really the only thing they could do to protect the people Ric loved. Not that Ric was happy with the plan. In fact, he was fighting mad that it was their only option. When Anna unzipped the body bag and he jumped out, he was one mad hombre. It was torture for him to lay there motionless while his daughter and the woman he loved wept in agony over losing him.

Part of Molly’s grief was that she didn’t get to say goodbye to him, so Alexis reluctantly brought her to the morgue to say a final farewell. Anna used the old “she shouldn’t see her father in that condition” speech on Alexis to keep the teen from seeing that he wasn’t dead at all. But, just like any/every wily teenager, Molly snuck in. Hidden behind a door, the very much alive Ric had to listen once again to his little girl fall to pieces. This time, it was he who couldn’t stop crying! After everyone turned off the waterworks, he slipped on some scrubs, put on a surgical cap and mask and left, not to be seen or heard from again until… well, until storyline dictates!

Meanwhile, Liz was in her own fog, unable to shake her grief. She had vanished from her shift at the hospital, which threw Obrecht into a tizzy. Obrecht chewed Liz a new one, Liz sassed Dr. O back and when all was said and done, Liz got fired. Nikolas having seen on the TV at The Floating Rib that Ric was shot and killed, raced to GH to comfort and support Liz. Their warm, fuzzy interaction was spotted from afar by Britt, who got “that” look on her face with “that” wicked eyebrow. When Obrecht saw her daughter looking troubled, she asked if she could do something to help. Britt thought a moment and said, “Help me get Nikolas back.” Uh oh.

Felix was drippy-eyed, too. Not because of Ric, but because of Sabrina, whose pain over her newborn son’s death caused her to go a little bonkers the day before. What a good friend that Felix is. He cried for his BFF’s heartache and was rewarded for his sympathetic soul with a bear hug from Lucas in a hospital gown.

Monday, Sonny learns of Ric’s death and confronts Anna, Duke has it out with Julian, Rafe is caught in the act, and Patrick — hold onto your seats Scrubs fans — admits he thinks his marriage is over! Don’t forget: 2:00 ET and 1:00 PST/CT on ABC. Be there!
