Elaine Stritch Passes

Tags:

Elaine Stritch, legend of stage and screen, has passed away at the age of 89. Best known for her work on Broadway in shows like Company and Show Boat, she earned many Tony nominations and even took home an Emmy for her more recent work on 30 ROCK as the mother of Alec Baldwin’s character.

But daytime audiences might remember Stritch’s turn as ONE LIFE TO LIVE’s Wilma, mother to Thom Christopher‘s Mortimer and Carlo. When Alex tried to turn Carlo look-alike Mortimer into a passible version of her late husband to keep control of his empire, Wilma arrived in Llanview to find her son. In the end, Carlo was revealed to be alive, and Wilma admitted that she’d had twins and given up Carlo because she couldn’t take care of them both.

Our sympathies go out to the friends and family of this show business icon.
