GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Constance Towers Stars Opposite James Franco in New Series

Tags:

Constance Towers (ex-Helena) is finally getting a chance to work with former GENERAL HOSPITAL castmate James Franco (ex-Franco)!

The actress is appearing in the new Hulu series 11.22.63, based on the bestselling Stephen King novel, which stars Franco as a man who travels back in time to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963.

“Everybody loved him at GH, but I never worked with him,” Towers tells Soaps In Depth. “He’s just so good. There was no celebrity nonsense about him at all, which I just love.”

In order to maintain the show’s mysteries, Towers can’t say much about the role she’s playing, but admits that her character is being honored and she loved the acceptance speech because it had a poem in it — although that presented its own set of problems to the production!

“The poet would not allow anything to ever be used on television or film, so they were running around for a poet,” Towers explains. “Then they called Stephen King and he couldn’t think of anybody, but he said, ‘Give me until tomorrow at noon.’ The next day at noon, a poem came in, written by Stephen King just for the occasion. I thought that was wonderful. The only thing I didn’t get to do was meet him!”

Two episodes of the eigth-part series have already been released on Hulu, with the rest to follow weekly. And for more from Towers, check out her interview in the last ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine!
