What Happened to Spinelli on GENERAL HOSPITAL?

After recent episodes, some fans found themselves wondering what happened to Spinelli on GENERAL HOSPITAL? For the episodes surrounding Nathan and Maxie’s wedding, the popular character normally played by fan-favorite Bradford Anderson was portrayed by DAYS OF OUR LIVES alum Blake Berris (ex-Nick)!

The reason for the switch was simply that Anderson was unavailable during those taping days because he had landed a role on the critically-acclaimed Showtime series, HOMELAND. “It’s a show that I’ve watched and loved since it began, so to be working on it is pretty exciting,” Anderson posted to Facebook. “The unfortunate part is that it conflicted with some episodes of GH that I was supposed to do, and I had to back out of those episodes. To make it even worse, it all happened last minute.”

Anderson urged fans to be kind to his temporary replacement, and Berris assured viewers he “would never try to replicate the reputed Bradford Anderson. Will be a different take on Spinelli, and only a few episodes.”

Not only did Spinelli bring Georgie, his daughter with Maxie, to Port Charles so she could be a part of her mommy’s wedding, he also ended up officiating the ceremony when Lucy was unable to make it! So while Spinelli looked a little different, it was important to have him be a part of Maxie’s big day, considering their past together.

“Sincere thank you for the overwhelmingly warm welcome to GH,” Berris tweeted after his episodes aired. “Au revoir, Spinelli!”

Anderson posted another apology to GH fans for having to back out of the episodes, and thanked Berris for stepping in with only two days notice. “Well done pal, sincerely,” he tweeted to his recast, jokingly adding, “And thank you for making Spin taller and giving him a better physique. I’ve been trying to do that for years.”

Hopefully Anderson will be available the next time GH requires Spinelli to be on the canvas, but for those who enjoyed Berris’ acting, he let fans know that he’s about to make an appearance on FOX’s hit series BONES on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. ET. “I’m getting into some trouble!” he tweeted.
