Starting her career as a dancer, Hughes got her big break as John Travolta’s love interest in Staying Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever. But she became an instant favorite to GH fans when she joined the soap in 1985 as Anna Devane. She has come and gone from Port Charles over the years, most notably joining ALL MY CHILDREN in 1999 as Anna’s twin sister, Alex, and later, Anna herself.

Throughout her career in daytime, Hughes has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award six times for both GH and AMC, winning Outstanding Lead Actress in 1991 for her work on GH.
In addition to her work in film and television, Hughes has also moved behind the camera, producing and directing various projects including a series called CYPRESS BAYOU.
