GENERAL HOSPITAL James Patrick Stuart Reveals the Role He’s Tackling While Waiting to Bring Valentin Back to Port Charles!

James Patrick Stuart made a splash as the villainous Valentin on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but with the Cassadine currently off-screen, the actor is using this time to take to the stage in a new musical!

The show is called The Devil You Know, and centers around a band called Devereaux that hits the big time and that’s when things start falling apart. “The cool thing is that the actors all play their own instruments,” Stuart tells Soaps In Depth. “There’s no orchestra. The actors are the band. I’m on drums, and Larry Poindexter plays guitar and is the lead. It’s awesome.

The show is currently playing at the Theatre of Arts/Arena Stage in Hollywood, CA, through Sunday, Oct. 23. “After that it might find a new home and hopefully a bigger theater,” he reports. “It’s getting great reviews.”

Because Mac, his character in the musical, and Valentin are so very different, Stuart admits it was a little challenging to jump between them. “But luckily, I found a groove for Valentin before I left,” he confides. “No matter what I do, the first few days is about figuring out what works and I’d already rehearsed the play, so at this point, I’m in the groove.”

GH remains mum on when Valentin will be back to finish what he started, but with Claudette’s daughter, Charlotte, showing up this week, it would seem only a matter of time before the villain returns to cause more trouble — stay tuned!
