According to his mother, Elizabeth Jackson, Nathaniel Marston (Al/Michael, ONE LIFE TO LIVE; Eddie, AS THE WORLD TURNS) is scheduled for another surgery later today, pending the results of a brain scan. There is a fluid build-up in his skull due to the brain shearing injury, and his doctors want to alleviate the pressure by drilling two small holes in his skull. Yet because Marston has been much more alert the past few days than he had been, "[the doctors] will perform a brain scan on Wednesday prior to surgery to see if the fluid has begun to dissipate on its own," wrote Jackson. "If, in fact, the fluid is dissipating on its own, surgery will be cancelled... So let's continue to pray that this surgery will not be necessary."
Jackson went on to detail several other "miracles" that the family has been given in the days since her son's accident, starting with how having been thrown from the cab of his pickup truck actually saved Marston's life. "Had he stayed inside, he would have been taken out in a million pieces," she explained. "The truck looks like it went through a crusher. This did not happen, and Nathaniel does not have a visible cut or bruise on his face, hands or feet. He has a few minor abrasions on his legs. How does this happen to a man who went through a windshield? God's will and love, that's how."
