Who knew, but there actually is a little law and order in Port Charles, after all! Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of a character GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers had come to think of as one of the smart, law abiding cops in the otherwise questionable police forcer. This week, Ronnie Marmo exits as Det. Ronnie Dimestico after his not-so lily-white secret life is exposed and he goes down in a blaze of gunfire.
"Knowing the system, knowing the police, knowing jail, knowing the insane asylum, they just aren't options for him," Marmo says of his character. "Some people might think, 'I'll do my time and then get out of there.' But Ronnie knows how those places are. Shooting his way out the door, backing up was the only real option. The fact that I left the way I did, I'm taking as a compliment because I know a lot of people 'walk up the stairs and never walk back down.' I got to 'go for it' and show my chops a little bit."
Marmo fans need not worry. You haven't seen the last of him. The guy has always got something cookin'! In fact, he has eight films in post production, he's waiting for word if an additional season of his Web series co-starring Brianna Brown (ex-Lisa) will be picked up, and he recently started an East Coast operation of his 68 Cent Crew Theater Company of Los Angeles. "Leaving GH is bittersweet," he says. "The truth is, one of the hardest things about leaving was that I never had any job for three years! Sure, I'll miss the paycheck and the fan support. But, at the same time, it's really about everybody that I work with."
