Rick Springfield (ex-Noah, GENERAL HOSPITAL is returning to television in HBO’s critically acclaimed drama, TRUE DETECTIVE. However, you might not recognize the seemingly ageless rocker-turned-actor — he’s done something radical. “Talk about changing your look!” he laughs. “I did something very brave.” While details on the role remain under tight wraps, we do know that Springfield will be playing a man named Dr. Pitlor in two episodes, the first of which is titled “Night Finds You” and aired Sunday, June 28, at 9:00 p.m. EST. Might he sport a lab coat, much like he did as Dr. Drake? “Eh… It’s not that kind of doctor!” Springfield laughs. “The show’s great. It’s very hard-edged.”

The performer also reveals that he was thrilled by the experience working with his scene partners, especially one of this season’s stars, Colin Farrell. “He was awesome. Fricken awesome!” Springfield enthuses. “All of my scenes are with him and Rachel McAdams. He’s just a real nice guy and very giving, which is a sign of a great actor.” How might Springfield’s character play into the mystery? And might he cross paths on screen with fellow GH alumni Jon Lindstrom (ex-Kevin/Ryan), who plays Jacob McCandless all season? Tune in to find out!
