What Is The Asian Quarter?

The list of mobster offspring grew yet again this week on GENERAL HOSPITAL when Brad revealed that his biological father was Kim Wu of the Asian Quarter’s Wu crime family. Who is this notorious clan and what is the Asian Quarter, you ask? Let’s fill you in a little…

It began in 1985, when a local godfather, Mr. Wu, was oppressing his people in a ghetto referred to as The Asian Quarter. He had arranged for two jade Buddhas decorated with black pearls to be stolen from a wise Chinese gentleman known as The Ancient One. But upon retrieving the statues, the pearls were missing. Mr. Wu assumed that when the artifacts were in Robert and Anna’s possession, they took the pearls and ordered his grandson, Kim, to get them back. Kim was in deep with the family business, which included a slave market and extortion.

Wu’s gang, along with Robert, Anna, Frisco, Felicia, Sean and a defiant group called the Green Shirts all were on the hunt of the missing black pearls. During this time, Robin overheard Robert and Anna mentioning that she was their daughter. Hurt and confused, she ran away. Robert assumed Wu had Robin kidnapped but, in reality, she was hiding out at GH. Through a twist of fate, Robin spots her doll at GH, the same doll that hold the black pearls in its eye sockets!

While Wu was losing his grip on his people, The Ancient One found Robin. She reunited briefly with Anna, only to again be nabbed by Kim’s people and carried off. The Ancient One promised to find the pearls for Wu if he returned Robin to her family. Kim eventually got hold of the pearls, but Wu’s granddaughter, Jade, threw him a curve ball. She grabbed them, put her hand through a glass window and tossed them to the people in the street below. Later, Robert found Robin and Kim was killed.
