Dear Kin, Your character of Scott hasn’t had much to do lately since it ended with Laura. Who would you like Scott to get together with, on GH or PC? Or would you rather an old character come back, like Tracy Quartermaine or Heather Webber? David Smith |
Dear David, Heather was such a great character. Tracy was such a great character. I’d love to see either one of them come shakin’ back into town. They’d be fun because they have such a history with all of us. You get all these years and all this airtime invested in people like Robin Mattson (ex-Heather), who then did eight years or something on ALL MY CHILDREN [as Janet]. It boggles my mind why they promoted it and then let them go. I know they don’t want to see anybody that’s over 40 anymore, but the audience does, for God’s sake. Even if it’s a short-term story, just to cook it up for six to eight weeks, is worth its weight in gold. It boggles my mind why they wouldn’t tap into it. Fans loved her as psycho Janet. I saw her beating up Santa Claus once. That’s Robin doing her best stuff. Bring crazy Heather back! Hook them up! It would send fans into a frenzy. |
Dear Kin, How does it feel to work with such great actors as Anthony Geary (Luke) and Genie Francis (Laura)? Jennifer |
Dear Jennifer, We all started together, so we all derive just as much fun now as we did in the early days. |
Dear Kin, With all the storylines you've been involved in, which one did you enjoy the most and why Lisa |
Dear Lisa, The most fun I had, of course, was with Lynn Herring and the Lucy/Scotty high jinks, the slapstick, fast-paced kind of story. But that’s hard to keep pulling off on a regular basis because it’s really got to be in the writing. My best story was probably the Dominique story, but that was the hardest story because that was based in such an emotional trauma. Going to work every day was like, ‘Oh man, I’ve got this whole thing today where I’ve got to fall apart.’ But the stuff with Lynn, we used to laugh all day long. |
Dear Kin, I enjoy the father/daughter scenes that you have with Carly Schroeder. Now that you are on GH, how do you think the writers can work Serena into the GH storylines? Beth |
Dear Beth, My biggest beef down there is that somehow when I crossed over that breezeway from PC to GH, my family fell out of my pockets. I lost everything. It was like I was running across, trying to sneak over to GH. I left Lee, Gail, Serena, Karen and baby Christina behind. ‘Can’t worry about you guys. I’m going to go over here and do some dating.’ I’m like a guy who had a midlife crisis he ditched his whole family. It’s insane. But what are you going to do? If they don’t write them, they don’t write them in. Carly is now 11 and is turning into a little actress. She really enjoys the acting and is having fun with it. I haven’t worked with her for a couple of years. Right now, she’s kind of like a little Tatum O’Neal, when she was that age. I think she’d be a lot of fun. There’s a lot of story there. |
Dear Kin, I remember reading a few years ago that you and Christopher Knight (from THE BRADY BUNCH) were friends. Do you still keep in touch? Lisa |
Dear Lisa, We used to hang out all the time. He moved and isn’t around here. I saw him not too long ago because Carly played in the Brady Bunch movie. I was at the premiere of that. Chris was there. We used to spend a lot of time together about 15 years ago. |
Dear Kin, How and why did you get into acting? And who were your influences in life? Julie |
Dear Julie, I was such a fan of the movies when I was a kid. Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood. I wanted to grow up to be one of those guys. But, instead, I just became one of those guys on coffee who never shuts up. Those guys never said anything. But soap opera characters talk, talk and talk. So it’s kind of hard to be cool like McQueen and those guys because we chatter away. |
Dear Kin, I am a huge fan of yours. I read (in Soaps In Depth) that you have had pink elephants on your birthday cake since you were a kid. Is there a story behind that? LynnTrobaugh |
Dear LynnTrobaugh, There’s a well-renowned baker in Farmer’s Market. Jim [Warren, the photographer] used to always go there and get me one of those cakes. But they were known for their icing. It was only until about five years ago that I said, ‘Jim, could you see if they’d do something other than the pink elephants. Let’s do some nice sail fish.’ Now I’m into the nautical motif. The elephants are gone, the fish are in. |
Dear Kin, What do you like to do in your spare time? jenna |
Dear jenna, I’m planning my next dive trip to the Caribbean. When I’m not doing that, I’m turning my house into a Caribbean-esque house, which looks like you’re in the Caribbean, but you’re not. If I’m not doing that, I’m going to a movie [or] just hanging out. |
Dear Kin, Of all of the women Scott has been with, whom would you like to see him with again basketball_gurl32 |
Dear basketball_gurl32, They all added something, some sort of a zest to Scotty’s life. He had the love of his life, Dominique. He had the first young love, Laura. He had the wrong side of the tracks with Bobbie, who was just a wild firecracker. He had nutty Heather and then goofball Lucy. Trying to keep up with her just makes your head spin. And Eve was sort of a fun girl. I’m open for some fresh meat, as they say. |
Dear Kin, Do you think they will ever have a Scotty and Lucy pairing again? You and Lynn Herring are dynamite together. Sara |
Dear Sara, That would be so hard. If they reteam us, I want it to be on GH, not PC. I tell Lynn all the time that somewhere down the road, they’re going to have her come over and shake somebody up over here. |
Dear Kin, What is it like working with Lynn Herring? krissie Roberson |
Dear krissie, I love working with her. She’s my favorite. We have such a good time. We have such history together. Lucy brought my child into the world, we were married, we got baby Christina together. There’s a lot of history that they had to Etch-A-Sketch because when they moved me to GH, she went back to Kevin. They couldn’t have me looming in the background. They had to just erase it. |
Dear Kin, What would you like to change about your character Beverly J Pettengill |
Dear Beverly J, Nothing. There is nothing to change because he’s not doing anything. Scotty’s got no bad habits right now. Because he’s been void of anything for a couple of years now, I haven’t really had anything to do. I dated Laura once or twice a week, now I’m dating Bobbie. I had so much to do on PC for those four years that I was over there, then I crossed over and went into a void. I don’t think anybody has given much thought into how that affected Scott or the other characters. |
Dear Kin, I know that you are really close to the actress who plays Serena and to her family; you’ve taken them on boating trips, etc. Do you consider them to be family or like family now? cheryl favis |
Dear cheryl, Yeah. When she arrived here, she was 5 or 6, and now she’s 11. I’ve tried to make myself a part of her life. Her mother thinks that it’s good for Carly to get a whole aspect of this town and acting and life in general. When she gets with me, she kind of gets to do stuff that she normally doesn’t get to do and she sees things differently. I really love spending time with her because she makes me laugh. She’s a very funny little girl. You never know what’s coming out of her mouth. When she was younger, she would just look. Now there’s an actual sentence that comes with that look. |
Dear Kin, Do you think you are funnier than your brother, Wil? Or vice versa? Both of you have such comedic talent. Julie |
Dear Julie, My brother is a professional stand-up comic. There’s a difference between comics and comedians. I think I’m more of a comedian thing. If you take some very funny people and put them in front of an audience, they don’t have the material. They’re not comics. Comedians are funnier when you put them in a situation. I enjoy the comedian situations rather than getting up in front of a crowd of people and doing a stand-up act. |
Dear Kin, Scott needs some male friends on GH. Who would you like to see fill that position? Kelly |
Dear Kelly, Buddies? I never really thought about that. That whole buddy-buddy deal went out in the ’80s. Well, you know, I always thought that the whole Mac/Kevin thing was a little sketchy. Now that I think back, I don’t think Scotty has ever had friends, other than when he had his roommate, Brian. It was always about Scotty and Laura and ‘Brian, what am I going to do now?!’ That was the only guy that was his buddy. |
